NewsBusters Podcast: The People's Republic of Late Night Gets Worse

December 23rd, 2025 12:23 PM

Alex Christy is our super-serious media analyst with the late night-comedy spreadsheet, counting jokes and guests over the last three years. In 2025, it tilted even further to the left.

An amazing 92 percent of late-night political jokes are aimed at conservatives, up from 82 percent in 2024. The guest list included almost zero conservatives. Jimmy Fallon broke the mold when he put on Fox's Greg Gutfeld in August.

On Saturday, the New York Post picked up Alex's latest numbers after he watched 818 episodes from January to mid-December, when they go on break.

Among joke targets, this year’s top ten featured only one Democrat. The list included Donald Trump (7,045), Elon Musk (644), Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (371), Pete Hegseth (322), Melania Trump (225), Joe Biden (220), JD Vance (217), MAGA/Trump supporters (144), Republicans (135), and Eric Trump (134).

Jimmy Kimmel stood out, since this was the first time a host had zero left-wingers in his top ten targets. Kimmel's list included Donald Trump (1,668), Elon Musk (158), Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (99), Melania Trump (89), Pete Hegseth (88), Eric Trump (63), JD Vance (57), MAGA/Trump supporters (49), Donald Trump Jr. (44), and Republicans (40).

Fox News reported that Kimmel is set to deliver Great Britain’s annual alternative Christmas message, a broadcast meant to counter the sober royal Christmas address from King Charles and, this year, take aim at "fascism."

"From a fascism perspective, this has been a really great year," Kimmel is slated to say, according to a press release from Britain's Channel 4, where the message will air on Christmas Day. So much for may your days be merry and bright when Fascism is on the rise!

A Channel 4 spokesperson "Donald Trump's return to the White House and wide-ranging impact on the world has been the story of 2025, and it would be hard to think of a better person to address it than Jimmy Kimmel, who has found himself on the frontline of America's battle over free speech,"

To the leftists, only its speech can be celebrated as “free speech.” Conservative speech is denounced as “misinformation.” Just like the leftist networks provide “independent journalism,” and the conservative outlets are malignant “MAGA media.” Comedians are a cultural vanguard who "speak truth to power." That is, unless, Kimmel, is kissing the ring of a dissolute Biden.
