NewsBusters Podcast: Terry Moran Damages the Brand with Rage-Tweeting

June 9th, 2025 11:06 PM

ABC reporter Terry Moran was suspended on Sunday for a rage-filled tweet about President Trump and Stephen Miller being "world-class haters." This followed liberal rage over Trump ordering the California National Guard to restore order over immigration protests in Los Angeles.

He deleted his angry tweet, but not before it was shared all over the internet. Is Miller the “brains behind Trumpism? Moran wrote “It’s not brains. It’s bile. Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater. You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.”

He EATS his hate??

As for the president, “Trump is a world-class hater. But his hatred only a means to an end, and that end is his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment.”

Team Trump returned rhetorical fire. On Fox's Sunday Morning Futures, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Maria Bartiromo: “Hopefully this journalist will either be suspended or terminated." If ABC deeply cares about a brand image relying on objectivity, he should be dismissed.

Back in April, we previewed Terry Moran’s interview with Trump by noting Moran had called Trump a “Fuhrer,” and accused him of “stirring racist fears,” with his “Neo-Nazi ways.” In 2009, Moran gushed: “Barack Obama is the first president since George Washington to be taking a step down into the Oval Office.” In 2019, he hyped Bernie Sanders, claiming that the Vermont Senator has “made democratic socialism cool for millions of voters.”

We also dug into CNN's "breathtakingly sanctimonious" live airing of George Clooney's play Good Night and Good Luck, which glorifies CBS News hack Edward R. Murrow for trashing anti-communist Sen. Joe McCarthy. They were anti-anti-communist, which sort of leaves you as helpful to communists. After they aired the play, CNN host Anderson Cooper then turned to CBS host Scott Pelley, allowing him to lecture about their courageous democracy-saving journalism. Barf. They always miss that democracy and free speech include the freedom to tell CBS they stink on toast.
