Chuck Todd's Exiting NBC, Exploring His Options After Being Replaced on Sunday

January 13th, 2025 12:57 PM

Maxwell Tani at the website Semafor reports “Chuck Todd has quietly been meeting with Washington media organizations about his post NBC-future.” His contract is up this year, and Todd says he’s leaving and exploring other broadcast and digital options.

Why did NBC shove Todd aside from hosting Meet the Press in favor of Kristen Welker? Cynics don’t believe the line that “Todd left the show after nine years because he wanted to change his life and prioritise his well-being.”

We know Comcast is obsessed with DEI standards, so was it time for a Woman Of Color? The Sunday show needed more viewers from the TikTok demographic? Welker has been a Democrat party-liner just like Todd.

Tani noticed what any NBC watcher has noticed: “while NBC announced that Todd would focus on longform projects after stepping down from Meet the Press in 2023, he has been a far less visible presence across the news network and its cable counterpart.”

At this point, neither the network nor Todd have responded to Semafor (or the New York Post) when asked for comment.

Reporters noted Todd publicly criticized NBC over its decision to hire former Trump-selected Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel last year. Semafor added, “The network immediately backpedaled, but the incident led some staffers to question Todd’s future there.” But why question Todd's NBC future when it seemed like whole gang was in an uproar over Ronna?
