FALSE! MSNBC Commentator Tara Setmayer Claims Republicans Don't Chant 'USA'??

Phillip Nieto at Mediaite reported on "MSNBC Republican" Tara Setmayer's false statement on Saturday's talk show The Weekend. Setmayer was so exuberant about flag-waving and "USA" chants that she witnessed at the Democrat convention that she claimed "you're not seeing that from the oter side."

What? Setmayer says a lot of wild-eyed things on MSNBC, but she doesn't have a single fact check from PolitiFact. This could be a start!

As Nieto wrote, "chants of 'USA! USA!' are ubiquitous at Donald Trump events, including defiantly after he was injured by a would-be assassin, and in fact the chants have been repeatedly criticized by Democrats." We'd add Jonathan Capehart saying the USA chants "felt menacing," until the Democrats attempted it this week.

First, she raved over Kamala Harris's speech, which she proclaimed "was excellently delivered and, because it was a narrative that I think a lot of Americans were unaware of about her personal story, but it was very relatable, very relatable." Setmayer argued Harris showed who she was, as opposed to "who Donald Trump is and who MAGA who J.D. Vance is."

SETMAYER: They show us who they are every day, repeatedly they show us and they tell us. And that vision for America is one that I don’t think most Americans are okay with. They don’t want the chaos. They don’t want the corruption. They don’t want the felonies. They don’t want the insults, the petulance, the constant denigrating of America.

[MSNBC host] Michael [Steele] knows this. You know, when you’re at a Republican convention, Republicans are always the rah-rah USA patriotic flag people. Let me tell you, they don’t have ownership over that. They don’t. And this DNC demonstrated that there were more cheers of USA and America and all of that than I have seen in a very long time, where people embrace America and what makes America great. Even with our flaws, you’re not seeing that from the other side.

And Kamala Harris is really embodying that now, which is why you’re seeing her do so well in the polls. People want that again. It’s hopeful. It’s joyful. That’s what we want for a future.

If there were an actual conservative or Republican at the table, they could say: wait a minute, if you haven't seen this kind of patriotic display at a Democrat convention in a very long time, what does that say about this sudden we-love-America tactic?

As for the "joyful" spin, the same Tara Setmayer argued on MSNBC earlier this month that for women, this election is a "life or death choice," that "for women, it's our lives or Trump." That's some pretty dark material.
