On the latest NB Podcast, we marvel at the amazing pundit acrobatics of the CNN Media Unit. In 2020, CNN was the center of the universe on coronavirus panic (unless you were attending a Black Lives Matter protest). Suddenly in 2022, there's too many "doomsday doctors" and "panic porn" out there -- now that Biden's approval rating is in the dumps and the Democrats are vulnerable in a midterm year. Brian Stelter and Oliver Darcy have flip-flopped and now sound like conservative Twitter.
On Sunday's Reliable Sources, Stelter asked Darcy the "admittedly overbroad" question: Is the media out of touch with the country about Covid? "If you travel the country," Darcy replied, "people are not really living in the same bubble that it seems most of the media is messaging toward."
In his newsletter, Stelter touted an article by a former network TV producer preaching "For media, COVID alarm is a hard habit to break." If COVID alarm was an addiction, CNN needed rehab. Now they're preaching against "panic porn"! Like they are repeating Ben Shapiro!
