The first press conference for President Biden seemed more like a “press massage.” Yamiche Alcindor of PBS told Biden that immigrants were rushing across the border because of the perception he's a "moral, decent man" who can be trusted with unaccompanied minors. The whole event was embarrassing.
That sugary prose did NOT make the NewsHour on Thursday night.
It's especially maddening when liberal bias overflows from public broadcasting, which conservatives help subsidize. NPR anchor Mary Louise Kelly was pushing donations during the pledge drive by insisting she offers tough questions to hold people accountable. When it came to Kelly's interview of Secretary of State Tony Blinken last month, that's simply a lie.
The dominant theme of the presser was the supposedly urgent need to scrap the filibuster. Reporters were channeling the hard left and their "big agenda." CNN's Kaitlan Collins pressed Biden to agree that the filibuster was a racist relic of the Jim Crow era. Biden bizarrely claimed the Republicans now make Jim Crow look like Jim Eagle. (?)
