Mark Levin began his national radio show on Tuesday night by attacking the media's coverage of Israel and the Gaza Strip, and their propaganidstic pairing of the opening of the American embassy in Jerusalem and the deaths of Palestinian "protesters" in the same segbment or sentence. "The Democrat Party and the media in this country stand with our enemies! And predictably so! And repeatedly so!"
Levin, just returned from a trip to Israel to celebrate the embassy opening, even said the media have "blood on their hands" because their rote narration of Hamas propaganda tactics, like throwing women and children into scenes of violence, is rewarded by un-skeptical reporting (hat tip to The Right Scoop, which has the audio):
Remember the last war with Gaza? Where do they put their headquarters? Under elementary schools. Remember? Where do they put their missile inventory? Under hospitals. You see, what our media do not understand or do not care to understand is that for Hamas every human being is expendable. Because it’s a war. Every one of their citizens, expendable. Children and women first!
Why? I’m gonna tell you why. And I don’t mean to be provocative but I’m gonna tell you why.
The media in our country – hell the worldwide media and the Democrat Party in our country, just like all the left European parties… You know what? They have blood on their hands! You know why they have blood on their hands? Because they encourage this activity. Because Hamas watches them. The more children that are killed, the more the media turn on the Israelis. The more women killed, the more the media turn on the Israelis. So they push the women to the front. They push the children to the front.
You and I look at this and say holy…these terrorists are unbelievable, what they do to their own people!
The media, they say the Israelis are unbelievable, look what they do to these people.
Levin accused the media of reporting from a distance, not from the Gaza Strip:
When's the last time an American reporter went into Gaza, and actually did a report on what's going on, who's in control, and what they do to their own people? Never! Because they'd never come out alive!....
Our reporters sit in their air-conditioned offices at 30 Rock, on Capitol Hill, at MSNBC and CNN and NBC and CBS and ABC, with their new haircuts and their $1200 suits and their $300 ties and their flashy loafers, and they sit there and pass judgment on people who have to deal with this, life and death!
Levin read from a Right Scoop report from Gaza Facebook accounts instructing the "protesters" to bring guns or knives to capture Jews and prepare to march behind the bulldozers taking out the border fence. "Mostly peaceful protests" is not the term you would use after a look at that.
PS: Noah Rothman at Commentary also offered questions and a harsh take on the media repeating Hamas publicists:
“How DARE Palestinians be slaughtered,” national security reporter for the Daily Beast Spencer Ackerman sneered when American UN Ambassador Nikki Haley walked out of a rote series of attacks on Israel at the United Nations....Rachel Maddow producer Steve Benen all but explicitly blamed President Donald Trump for the violence. And so on.
These reactions are the result of what must be a deliberate effort to internalize only half the story in Gaza—Hamas’s half.
