Chris Noth, a star of “The Good Wife” on CBS, isn’t as restrained a politician in real life as he is on TV. Black leftist Marc Lamont Hill spotlighted him as "fascinating" on HuffPost Live for tweeting: “Highest level of racism was showed yesterday when Republicans forced a shutdown of our government. Mostly because our President is black.”
Noth also tweeted “Every Tea Party member should be horsewhipped.” That wasn’t quoted by Hill. But Noth unloaded all the junk about Obama opponents being Confederates, and being un-American for opposing Obama and should "succeed" [sic] from the Union:
CHRIS NOTH: I think it’s gotta be the worst Congress since right before the Civil War, and rightly, who was it? I think was it Carter? Someone called them a bunch of Confederates. (Hill laughs) I mean, they practically are. Why don't they just succeed from the Union at this point?....
MARC LAMONT HILL: I spoke to the head of the DNC yesterday, Debbie Wasserman Schultz. She told me also that she thought it was personal toward the president. Do you really think this shutdown is race-driven and why?
NOTH: I think racism can being an unconscious knee-jerk reaction without being people even knowing it...
I don’t think any other president has had someone stand up when he's giving an address and say “You lie!” Not just is it impolite, it’s feeling that he feels he can do that, that he doesn’t have the respect for the office. Why doesn’t he have respect for the office for this man, as opposed to others?
Noth’s “respect for the office” waxes and wanes with who’s in the office. The Huffington Post highlighted Noth in 2007 when he said the Bush administration was the "biggest tragedy in the history of the United States.”
He's a self-loathing white guy? No, he's a liberal. "I don't think there's one Republican I'd ever vote for," Noth told Us Magazine at a Rainforest Action Network event. "In terms of their corruption and their insensitivity to what's really needed in our society, they're repugnant. There may be a few good ones out there, but I haven't read of any."
So why can't you be a conservative without being a racist? It’s convenient to suggest that maybe the conservative racism is sub-conscious, and using that method, couldn’t we say that subconsciously, we believe Noth isn’t joking when he wants to horsewhip his political enemies, that maybe he has violent tendencies? That’s a sleazy tactic.
But Hill wanted to draw the Tea Party racism line out, underline it:
HILL: So if President Obama is white, do we have a government shutdown?
NOTH: Probably not. I don't think, I don’t believe it. With these Tea Party guys, maybe it was inevitable, but there’s something about Obama that makes these people just intolerable, and I consider them to be un-American.
HILL: Wow.
NOTH: I do. Because they don’t care about the country. They care about their small constituents.
