Nets Allow Just 9 Seconds to Texas Telling Washington: We're Delivering Illegals to You

If it wasn’t already clear that the networks want to avoid talking about the crisis at the border, that fact was proven all over again on Thursday. Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced on Wednesday that, due to the federal government’s refusal to deal with the illegal immigration problem, he will be sending busloads of illegals to the steps of the Capitol in Washington D.C.

Yet, so committed to ignoring the disaster at the border, the evening newscasts on Wednesday completely ignored the Republican's announcement and CBS Mornings on Thursday allowed just nine seconds. (The other two networks were again silent on Thursday.) Additionally, CBS’s coverage doesn’t really amount to anything. It was simply a clip of other journalists talking about the move in the show open.

But that was it. No other network coverage of the move. And you would think this might be an immigration story the networks would be interested in spinning as an attack on supposedly heartless conservatives. Instead, they censored the development.

By contrast, Fox News actually allowed Abbott to explain the policy:

With the ending of Title 42 expulsions, more must be done. To help local officials whose community are being overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden administration, Texas is providing charter busses to send these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden administration to Washington D.C. We are sending them to the United States capitol where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across the border.

Title 42 is a COVID-era policy that has been used for the immediate expulsion of illegals caught crossing the border. The Biden administration is ending it. This is despite the fact that, in February, border crossings were already 63 percent higher than the same time last year. Get ready for the border crisis to get much, much worse.

But you wouldn’t know it was a crisis if you watched the evening newscasts. In February, ABC, CBS and NBC completely censored the border story and in March it was just a scant nine minutes (almost all of that was stories on Ukrainians trying to come into America via the southern border). It seems as though there’s nothing the networks won’t do in order to try and protect the crumbling Biden administration from reality.

CBS's scant nine seconds on the decision by Texas was sponsored by Progressive insurance. On ABC, it was Comcast. On NBC, it was Subaru. Click on the links to let these advertisers know what you think.
