BREAKING: MSNBC Bizarrely Pretends Retiring Stephen Breyer Is ‘Conservative or Moderate’

Talk about detached from reality. MSNBC on Wednesday responded to the breaking news that far-left Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer is retiring by pretending that he was a “conservative or moderate” or “pragmatic” at times. The same MSNBC that mocked Amy Coney Barrett’s faith and called her a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” was very respectful of the departing Breyer.

Anchor Andrea Mitchell bizarrely reasoned, “One thing that occurs to me is that he was rather conservative or moderate, if you will, or more nuanced than many progressives may have liked on big economic issues when they hit the Court.”

Analyst Barbara McQuade allowed that “Justice Breyer was a reliable liberal when it came to” abortion and other issues. But she parroted the idea that the deeply liberal Breyer was somehow a “pragmatist” on unnamed issues, adding, “I think that’s the way people tend to think of him. He's someone who was out in the world. He'd worked in the Senate. He'd been an administrative law professor.”

Touting the official Democratic line on MSNBC, McQuade, a former prosecutor, cheered the idea that Biden get to replace Breyer:

So important, I think, that Joe Biden get to make this appointment. If he were to wait until after the midterms, I think we could see a Senate taken over by Republican votes or we could see one of those situations, if that is the case, where Mitch McConnell says “we're too close to a presidential election. We should wait and let the people decide.”

Back in 2020, MSNBC’s Tiffany Cross blasted the conservative Barrett as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.” On July 3, 2020, Peter Alexander reported on then-potential nominee Barrett as weird because of her religious beliefs: "A strong conservative, Barrett also has a pretty interesting bio. She’s Catholic, has seven children, and is a member of a small religious group called the People of Praise, where members swear a loyalty oath, what they call a covenant."

Given the delusional world of MSNBC, expect whatever liberal Biden nominates to also be called a “moderate.”

ANDREA MITCHELL: So, let me just bring in Barbara McQuade because as a former prosecutor and as a former prosecutor, as a  lawyer, as a professor, you know the impact of Steve Breyer. One thing that occurs to me is that he was rather conservative or moderate, if you will, or more nuanced than many progressives may have liked on big economic issues when they hit the Court. But on the core issues of personal liberty and freedoms and same-sex marriage and guns and choice on abortion, he was completely in sink with Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan and Sotomayor.

BARBARA MCQUADE (Former U.S. Attorney): Yes, Justice Breyer was a reliable liberal when it came to those kinds of core values types of cases. He was —  Pete used the word pragmatist. I think that’s the way people tend to think of him. He's someone who was out in the world. He'd worked in the Senate. He'd been an administrative law professor. So, I think there was a sense of trying to make things work. And so, he wasn't always an ideologue. He wasn’t always as progressive as some people might like. But when it came to these core issues, like abortion and voting rights and other kinds of things, he was a reliable liberal vote.

So important, I think, that Joe Biden get to make this appointment. If he were to wait until after the midterms, I think we could see a Senate taken over by Republican votes or we could see one of those situations, if that is the case, where Mitch McConnell says “we're too close to a presidential election. We should wait and let the people decide.” So, ever the pragmatist, I think he sees where we're headed and knows we need to get out now while we have several months ahead for Joe Biden to pick the successor and the Senate to confirm that person.
