Some liberal journalists and media outlets like to mock Fox as not real “news,” given that the network doesn’t parrot their left-wing agenda. But no one should ever consider ABC actual “news.” The network is committed to producing propaganda for corporate overlord Disney. Thursday showcased yet another pathetic example as Good Morning America devoted more time to pushing Black Widow than covering the latest on the Surfside disaster in Florida.
Co-host Robin Roberts sounded like a talking Disney press release, opening the 7:30 hour by robotically cheering, “We are counting down to Black Widow finally hitting theaters tomorrow. It is one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of the summer! Fandango reporting that the Marvel movie has already zoomed past F9 in presales!”
Beating F9 in pre-sales is insider-y showbusiness info. It’s not news. (And yes, the news show actually had an on-screen clock counting down. See picture above.) But she wasn’t done. Sounding like some Communist China propagandist for the state, Roberts saw only good things for Disney stock shares: “Industry experts predicting a massive weekend for the blockbuster with more and more people returning to the movie theaters.”
On Thursday, GMA allowed a scant 1 minute and 37 seconds to the news that the Surfside rescue effort has been called off. Instead of talking to families on this devastating news, ABC pushed Black Widow for 1 minute and 41 seconds. And that’s only counting Thursday’s totals. The show has been pushing the movie all week.
George Stephanopoulos, who went from being a Democratic shill to a GMA host, showed that he’s still happy to push a company line: “Ready to get back to normal,” he enthused to Roberts on the topic of going back to the movie theater.
Later in the show, Lara Spencer parroted the happy talk her Disney bosses wanted to hear:
Fandango announcing that Marvel's latest Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson is outpacing every other movie released so far this year. The advanced ticket sales before tomorrow's release date have already topped Fast & furious 9 and A Quiet Place 2. Even more impressive than that though, Black Widow’s pre-sales are stronger than some pre-pandemic Marvel movies…
Oh and in case you didn’t know, Spencer informed that Black Widow can be seen on Disney+: “Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh and David Harbour, all of whom by the way came to promote the film on GMA, hit theaters and Disney+ with premiere access nationwide tomorrow.”
In November of 2019, GMA devoted 17 minutes to Disney+. Roberts enthused, “Christmas coming early for everyone!” In September of 2020, ABC relentlessly promoted Mulan, but buried the fact that the movie filmed near brutal Chinese concentration camps.
The shilling for Disney was sponsored by Apple and Breyer's ice cream. Click on the links to let them know what you think of ABC becoming a non-news channel.
