Just seconds after Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed to the United States Supreme Court, MSNBC hosts suffered a meltdown, raging against a country founded on “the idea that being a free white” man gives you all the power. Host Joy Reid suggested that feeling returned on Saturday as Mitch McConnell imposed a form of tyranny. Reid slimed, “Mitch McConnell has decided that order means that people like Mitch McConnell, men like him rule. He believes in rule. Democrats tend to believe in governing. Republicans believe in rule.”
Referencing protests in the Senate during the vote, she ranted, “This is Mitch McConnell’s rule. He is restoring order as he and people like him understand it. And they will impose it on the people like those people who are protesting.”
According to Reid, the confirmation of Kavanaugh means: “Women who are shrieking out in agony, saying ‘You cannot impose this on us, you can't send us back to the '50s.’ But Mitch McConnell says, ‘Yes I can. I can impose order on you.’”
Making it racial, she noted, “This is a country that was founded, to be blunt, on the idea that being a free white landed male gave you super citizenship, that you were more a citizen than anyone else.”
Chris Matthews, only slightly less unhinged, found this meaning: “Democrats want everyone's intention to vote to count. Here again Democrats want all the voices heard. Go out and find the witnesses. Don't give us a one week time limit.”
Reid then accused McConnell of “bringing the darkness” by confirming Kavanaugh:
And Mitch McConnell said “We all know the events of recent weeks have strained the Senate’s comity and fanned the flames of partisan discords.” Well, my God, who has done that more than Mitch McConnell? Mitch McConnell broke the Senate and then urged people to come back from the darkness. He brought the darkness.
MSNBC hosts are never subtle. They never miss an opportunity to smear Republicans as evil racists.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Joy Reid is with me. I know that you are not a traditional like I am on some of these things. But it is nice to see that they know how to be disciplined. Of course, this Republican leader Mitch McConnell knows how do this. He has corralled his entire caucus, except for Murkowski, who has her home state politics to deal with and he has got himself a victory here.
JOY REID: You know, Chris, as I was watching this, as we were watching it together, a couple things jumped out at me. One of which is Mike Pence calling for the restoring of order. You look at that tableau there. This is order as seen from the point of view of the kind of people who run the Senate right now. The Senate, I was just writing down the demographic are 78 men. Only 22 women. Ninety white. Three black. Only four Hispanic. Three Asian American.
