Conservatism Wins Big on ‘Jeopardy!’ Game Show

Turns out, conservatism can win big anywhere. Tuesday night’s edition of the game show Jeopardy! included a category called “leaning right.” Contestant Dan Chafetz took four out of the five questions. The $400 query involved an international conservative favorite: “In 1904 this future British P.M. left the Conservatives & joined the Liberals. In 1924 he switched back.” (Answer: Winston Churchill.)

After correctly answering that question, Chafetz also nailed this one for $800: “In 1964, he galvanized young conservatives with his convention acceptance speech: ‘Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice.'" (Answer: Barry Goldwater.) The $1200 question involved the 1996 Republican vice presidential candidate: “A 2015 biography of this former pro quarterback & GOP running mate called him a 'bleeding-heart conservative.'" (Answer: Jack Kemp.)

The $1600 question was a video Daily Double from S.E. Cupp:

S.E. CUPP: I'm political commentator S.E. Cupp. Though I'm politically conservative, I support same sex marriage. As part of a group of Republicans dating from 1977 and named for this structure."

Chafetz erred, guessing, “What is The Big House?” (Answer: Log Cabin Republicans.)
