This hasn't been a good week for Politico's Mike Allen. On Monday he apologized for email that had been revealed in which he promised Hillary Clinton's PR operative Phillippe Reines two years ago that he would submit questions in advance that he would ask Chelsea Clinton. Today, Mike Allen again apologized for drawing the wrath of Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel during his Politico "Playbook" interview for revealing his family vacation plans to visit Cuba. The text of the exchange is quite tense but one must watch the video below to fully appreciate the absolute fury of Emanuel.
MIKE ALLEN: You were saying backstage that you’d want to come back as an Emanuel child. You take your young people on fascinating trips around the world, headed these holidays to Cuba. Why?
RAHM EMANUEL: Well, first of all, thanks for telling everybody what I’m gonna do with my family. You had a private conversation with me and now you’ve decided to make that public. I really don’t appreciate that, No. 1. I really don’t.
ALLEN: I didn’t know that wasn’t known.
EMANUEL: No, you asked me what are you gonna do this year, so I’m expressing to you now publicly my displeasure.
OUCH! Emanuel then discussed his philosophy for taking family vacations so perhaps Allen thought he was finally free from further scorching from the angry laser-like glower radiating from The Godfather's eyes. Unfortunately if he had this thought, he was sadly mistaken because Emanuel soon focused his wrath upon poor Allen once again:
EMANUEL: This year, if my wife doesn’t kill me now because of what you just did, we will take our kids to Cuba to be exposed to that culture the same way they’ve been to India and the same way that they have been to Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Chile, and Vietnam and Laos. … Can you give me your cell number, because I’d like you to listen to Amy.
ALLEN: I apologize for that.
Exit question: Will Rahm Emanuel end up going on a permanent vacation care of his angry constituents who want him out of office now?
