Donald Trump and his "reflection" appeared on the Tonight Show last night and it was huge. I mean...YUUUUUGE! A comedy gold skit in which Jimmy Fallon imitating Donald Trump interviewed his "reflection," the real Donald Trump, in a dressing room mirror. The skit was notable not only for the laugh lines but for the fact that Trump was able to laugh at himself.
As we shall see, this hilarious skit got a lot of positive reviews but first let us watch as even Jimmy Fallon had trouble keeping a straight face:
Even folks that don't like Trump were able to appreciate this performance as you can see in these YouTube comments:
As much as i hate him at least he can laugh at himself.
I REALLY don't like Trump but I admit I did chuckle a few times during this skit!
Reviewers, whatever their opinions of Donald Trump, also enjoyed the skit. Lloyd Grove at the Daily Beast was very much amused by the performance:
In what looked like an homage to the famous scene from Duck Soup in which Groucho and Harpo Marx mimicked each other across a non-existent mirror, the red-tied, dark-suited candidate and his similarly attired alter-ego (who, like the genuine article, sported a wispy bouffant the color of spun gold) sat in their dressing room, on opposite sides of a makeup table, and prepped themselves to be grilled by a certain “dopey,” “pathetic” talk show host.
...Maybe all that sounds a bit mind-bendingly meta, but the studio audience (i.e. Trump’s target voters) clearly loved it, cackling, cheering and shouting throughout with unrestrained glee; it might as well have been a Trump for President rally.
Other reviews from around the web also gave a thumbs up to the sketch. The reviewers might not be fans of Donald Trump but they couldn't help but laugh at the the creatively hilarious performance.
