Hillary Clinton Bans Press From Two Events in San Francisco Saturday

Just as Hillary Clinton's poll numbers took a drop, she's decided to ban the press from two events she's appearing at in San Francisco Saturday.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported Monday:

Clinton's much-anticipated speech at the Moscone Center on Saturday before the National Association of Realtors conference, a convention that is drawing 22,000 people to San Francisco this week, will be blacked out - closed to the media.

So will her big fundraiser Saturday night with daughter Chelsea Clinton at San Francisco's Regency Ballroom, a "Millennial Network" event to benefit the Clinton Foundation.

The decision to bar reporters from the Clinton speech before thousands of Realtors is "per her team's request," a National Association of Realtors spokeswoman said in an e-mail Monday.

This was confirmed Tuesday by the Huffington Post which received the following response to its request to cover both events:

Thank you for reaching out to the Clinton Foundation and for your interest in covering the Millennial Network fundraiser at San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom this Saturday. Unfortunately, it is a closed press event.

As the Post noted, Clinton banned the media from a speech in Atlanta last month before the National Association of Convenience and Fuel Retailing. In September, Clinton officials confiscated some smartphones at her address to the American Society of Travel Agents’ conference in Miami.

Maybe not so coincidentally, Fox News's Howard Kurtz published a piece moments ago titled "The Media’s Hillary Bandwagon Loses a Wheel."

Kurtz cited a piece from the perilously liberal New York Times columnist Frank Bruni who noticed Clinton's slip in an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll finding her favorability had dropped from 56 to 46 percent while her unfavorable rose from 29 to 33 percent:

“Here we go. The beginning of the end of her inevitability...

“Voters are souring on familiar political operators, especially those in, or associated with, Washington. That’s why Clinton has fallen. She’s lumped together with President Obama, with congressional leaders, with the whole reviled lot of them.”

Kurtz also mentioned the press being banned from these San Francisco events.

With that in mind, Clinton better be careful.

She and her team should recall how quickly the media jumped from her bandwagon to Barack Obama's in 2008.
