Was Oprah Winfrey trying to distract attention Wednesday from the stir she caused accusing a Swiss shop clerk of racism, or just doing PR for the new film she's starring in?
Regardless of the answer, appearing on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live, Winfrey shocked a member of the studio audience with a new Ford Fusion (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):
Certainly, no daytime talk show fan can forget when Winfrey kicked off her 19th season by giving everyone in the audience a new car.
Possibly not feeling that philanthropic Wednesday, she interrupted her interview with Kimmel seeming to take ill saying, "I just got that feeling again."
A confused Kimmel said, "What feeling?"
This continued for a while until Winfrey pointed into the audience saying, "You, you in the blue. You right there. You. Come up here a minute."
The woman, later identified as Britney, joined Winfrey and Kimmel on stage only to be told by the former, "I want to say this to you. You, you get a car! You get a car!”
Winfrey handed the startled woman the keys, and she was escorted outside the studio by Kimmel sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez where she was introduced to her new Ford Fusion Energi Hybrid.
Winfrey's Twitter followers likely knew something was up earlier in the day when she tweeted:
.@jimmykimmel THAT was fun! I don't know what came over me! #yougetaCar

Sure beats talking about an alleged racist shop clerk - which by the way didn't come up during her appearance.
