It really is amazing listening to liberal media members sometimes.
Consider The Nation magazine’s Katrina vanden Heuvel who on MSNBC’s Now Wednesday actually said, “At the moment the Democratic Party with a few exceptions is a kind of centrist party” (video follows with transcript and commentary):
KATRINA VANDEN HEUVEL, THE NATION MAGAZINE: Ryan is absolutely right that in our media system there is this quote cult of false equivalence that treats the two parties in the same way, and, “Oh, there's the left and the Democratic Party.” At the moment the Democratic Party with a few exceptions is a kind of centrist party, and the Republican Party is on some suicidal course. Not clear where we’ll end. It may end up in shutdown but it's hard to say. I just, one hopes for something better for this country because the problems are so severe.
Imagine that.
Now in fairness to vanden Heuvel, as she is as far to the left as one can go, she probably thinks that anything to the right of her is either centrist or conservative.
To her, conceivably the only liberal in the Senate is the Vermont socialist Bernie Sanders.
So, from her perspective, there virtually aren't any liberal elected officials in this country.
Of course, that's fine for her publication, but it's dangerous on television where viewers may not be familiar with just how far to the left The Nation is.
On the other hand, with all the MSNBC anchors and contributors that either do or have written for The Nation, there really isn't much difference between this so-called "news network" and that socialist rag.
Makes you wonder how anyone can watch it.
Oh. That's right. Almost nobody does.
Never mind.
