Chris Matthews Trashes 'Morning Joe' for Being 'Open to All People's Points of View'

Chris Matthews on Thursday made it crystal clear that he sees his role at MSNBC is to present only one side of any issue.

Clearly oblivious to how he was letting the cat out of the bag for all to see, the Hardball host trashed his own network's Morning Joe for being "open to all people's points of view" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Screw ups are not need for penitential action, simply correction. But when Reince Priebus has the nerve to cross the line into giving us moral leadership, we all must laugh – laugh heartily. The administration’s bungling of the IRS issue has opened, of course, the door for GOP featherweights like RNC chair Reince Priebus to launch some serious accusations. They’re not serious coming from him. They sound serious.

Priebus tweeted – which is a perfect means of communication for him yesterday - "Great show with Sean Hannity tonight. It's lawlessness and guerilla warfare and Obama is in the middle of it." This is what a leader of a political party talks like – a thirteen-year-old. This morning he doubled down on those accusations. Here he was on Morning Joe. I don't know why they put him on. I guess they're open to all people's points of view on that show.

As readers know, we at NewsBusters often take issue with the liberal leaning of Morning Joe.

That said, it is practically the only program on MSNBC that welcomes conservative guests albeit not in the number that would make it balanced.

Clearly, Matthews doesn't like that as quite counter to what Hardball used to be when it was first on CNBC, the host - like most on that farce of a so-called "news" network - prefers now to have on guests that almost exclusively agree with and echo his opinion.

Maybe that's why his ratings are so lousy.

As for Matthews' comments about Priebus, it's additionally telling that the Hardball host is quite enamored with Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz who most conservatives view as one of the most hateful and intellectually dishonest people in politics today.

I guess Matthews likes trash talking when it comes from his side aimed at his opponents.
