CNN: Outside ‘Reality’ for Trump Say He Wasn’t Properly Protected

How rabidly anti-Trump is CNN? During their Tuesday edition of CNN Newsroom, they proved that their kneejerk reaction to nearly everything former President Trump said was to suggest he was lying. Despite the facts showing that the Secret Service’s incompetence led to Trump being shot in the head by a would-be assassin, host Jim Acosta and law enforcement analyst Jonathan Wackrow insisted that it was “irresponsible” and “not the reality of the situation” for Trump to say he was not properly protected.

Their ridiculous assertions came while they were reporting on the breaking news that Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle was resigning. “And there's also reaction coming in from Donald Trump. Apparently, he said on Truth Social, ‘the Biden-Harris administration did not properly protect me and I was forced to take a bullet for democracy. It was my great honor to do so,’” Acosta read.

Together, the duo clutched their pearls as they decried Trump’s comments as beyond the pale:

ACOSTA: I mean, obviously the Secret Service is a professional operation, you know, that the fact – to say something like ‘they did not protect me,’ it just sounds just wildly irresponsible.

WACKROW: Yeah. I mean, he's just capitalizing on the moment and it's – he's looking at this through the color of politics, not the reality of the situation.

“Not the reality of the situation,” what are you talking about Wackrow? The Secret Service did nothing as they let a gunman – they were warned about and flagged as suspicious before the event – get on a roof and take a shot at the man they were supposed to be protecting.

They did not protect him; and that’s a fact backed up by the fact a bullet went through Trump’s ear.

“Obviously, there were security failures and there's no way to avoid you say that otherwise – that led to the attack and the assassination attempt,” Wackrow admitted, contradicting his own whining. “That needs to be resolved, that needs to be led by a new director and new oversight of the agency to ensure that there are no systemic problems that had –within the agency itself that led to this moment.”

All Trump said was exactly what Acosta read, but Wackrow when on to claim it made a suggestion it did not. He suggested Trump’s posted insinuated “this was a coordinated effort by the Biden administration.” “So again, I just look at that statement as just looking at, looking at the situation through the color of politics and not the reality of the situation of the women and men that protect him,” he added.

Wackrow also noted that Trump “has the utmost respect for the women and men that surround him day in and day out. I do know that I've heard that from his detail and that's widely known.”

“Yeah. I mean, I suppose showing respect though would include not making statements like that,” Acosta scoffed.

JIM ACOSTA: And there's also reaction coming in from Donald Trump. Apparently, he said on Truth Social, “the Biden-Harris administration did not properly protect me and I was forced to take a bullet for democracy. It was my great honor to do so.” I mean, that that appears to be what the former President is saying perhaps he’s not aware that the director has stepped down, but that's what he's saying right now on Truth. Social.

Let me go back to Jonathan Wackrow who is still with us, I believe. Jonathan when you hear the former President's saying something like that, what's your reaction? I mean, obviously the Secret Service is a professional operation, you know, that the fact – to say something like ‘they did not protect me,’ it just sounds just wildly irresponsible.

JONATHAN WACKROW: Yeah. I mean, he's just capitalizing on the moment and it's – he's looking at this through the color of politics, not the reality of the situation.

The reality is, is that the women and men that protect the former president, and now the Republican nominee, are career Secret Service agents. They are politically agnostic they don't align to politics or a political agenda. What they do is they operate day in and day out in a threat-based paradigm and apply the level of protection that is necessary to protect the former president.

Obviously, there were security failures and there's no way to avoid you say that otherwise – that led to the attack and the assassination attempt. That needs to be resolved, that needs to be led by a new director and new oversight of the agency to ensure that there are no systemic problems that had –within the agency itself that led to this moment.

But to – the sort of intimate that the – this was a coordinated effort by the Biden administration is just trying to capitalize on the moment. And I actually will give the former President credit that he has the utmost respect for the women and men that surround him day in and day out. I do know that I've heard that from his detail and that's widely known.

So again, I just look at that statement as just looking at, looking at the situation through the color of politics and not the reality of the situation of the women and men that protect him.

ACOSTA: Yeah. I mean, I suppose showing respect though would include not making statements like that, but Jonathan, I take your point. Jonathan, thank you.
