The View Whines Sanders Called ‘Socialist’ With Anti-Capitalism Book

February 21st, 2023 5:55 PM

With hypocritical socialist Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders (I) set to make millions with his new anti-capitalism book It’s Ok to Be Angry About Capitalism, the ladies of ABC’s The View clownishly clutched their collective pearls as Joy Behar whined that critics would call him a “socialist”… which she promptly admitted he was.

“Okay, we’re going to plug your book It’s Ok to Be Angry About Capitalism. But they’re going to start screaming that you’re a socialist, which you are when they see this title,” she warned the Senator.

Racist co-host Sunny Hostin immediately jumped to Sanders’ defense by playing word games and shouting that he was “a democratic socialist!”

Sensing an opportunity, Sanders used the moment to push his socialist agenda with backup from Hostin:

SANDERS: All right. Let’s be clear and understand what the book is about is about the massive levels of inequality in this country. And it’s also – not just a critique – it’s a – what I think is a sensible path forward. And saying that in the richest country in the history of the world, you know what? Not only should healthcare be a human right but all of our people should have a right to higher education –

HOSTIN: Yes!

SANDERS: -- without going deeply into debt.

HOSTIN: That part is important because education is the great equalizer in this country.

This interview also featured the first time the train derailment and subsequent ecological disaster in East Palestine, Ohio was mentioned on the program.

“Obviously, this is a huge environmental but also public safety and health crisis taking place; tens of thousands impacted,” self-described conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin prefaced to Sanders. “Do you think that the Biden administration has done enough to address it and what more could be done?”

Instead of addressing what’s happening in East Palestine and the surrounding area, Sanders’ first call to action was to stop other derailments. “Well, for a start, we want to make sure that there are not more derailments. And by the way, it’s not just that derailment there are a lot of derailments taking place,” he said.

Sanders then teamed up with Hostin to blame deregulation under the Trump administration for the disaster:

SANDERS: Over a number of years, what we’ve seen is more deregulation of the rail industry. Safety standards have been withdrawn.

BEHAR: Why is that?

SANDERS: Well, that’s called money in politics and the power of the rail industry.

HOSTIN: And the Trump administration had a lot to do with it.

SANDERS: Yes, they did.

They never followed up on what the Biden administration should be doing for the residents of the contamination zone.

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: Senator Sanders, I want to ask you about the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. Obviously, this is a huge environmental but also public safety and health crisis taking place; tens of thousands impacted.

Do you think that the Biden administration has done enough to address it and what more could be done?

SEN. BERNIE SANDERS (I-VT): Well, for a start, we want to make sure that there are not more derailments. And by the way, it’s not just that derailment there are a lot of derailments taking place. Over a number of years, what we’ve seen is more deregulation of the rail industry. Safety standards have been withdrawn.

JOY BEHAR: Why is that?

SANDERS: Well, that’s called money in politics and the power of the rail industry.

SUNNY HOSTIN: And the Trump administration had a lot to do with it.

SANDERS: Yes, they did. And when you deal with the rail industry understand, they are making record-breaking profits. And among other things, they did not provide one paid sick day for their workers. And that’s an issue we’re dealing with with some success.

So, I think you’re seeing a lot of greed on the part of that industry and we have to tell them, “when you’re carrying these very dangerous chemicals, you know what? We need strong safety standards.

HOSTIN: Let people know that they’re being carried as well.

SANDERS: That’s right.

BEHAR: Okay, we’re going to plug your book It’s Ok to Be Angry About Capitalism. But they’re going to start screaming that you’re a socialist, which you are, when they see this title.
