They Would Know: The View Calls Biden's 'Jackie' Moment Just a 'Brain Fart'

September 29th, 2022 2:44 PM

President Biden’s cognitive decline was catapulted into the spotlight on Wednesday after he called out for a member of Congress that had been dead for nearly two months, with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre getting grilled by the liberal likes of the Washington Post and ABC. But ABC’s The View was in full gaslight mode Thursday as they suggested the questions were attacks launched by the “right-wing” media trying to “weaponize” Biden’s “brain fart” because America was evil and “ageist.”

The now-infamous “Jackie” moment was tackled right at the top of the hour with co-host Whoopi Goldberg playing a series of soundbites of Biden and press briefing questions, which featured The Washington Post’s Matt Viser and ABC’s Cecilia Vega. Both are definitely non-right-wing organizations.

“You know, my gosh come on! You can't go after him for not giving aid to Florida,” she started shouting as if those liberal reporters from liberal outlets were somehow hostile media. “So you can't go after him for that, but you can go after him for forgetting that someone has passed!”

Goldberg went on to suggest that Biden forgetting that Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN) had died in early August was acceptable because “she passed last month not, like, a hundred years ago!” Both she and co-host Joy Behar suggested that former President Trump’s poor use of tense when speaking about Frederick Douglass in 2017 meant he thought the abolitionist was still alive.

Co-host Sara Haines also spoke out in Biden’s defense claiming he had a “brain fart” or “mommy brain” moment and tried to blame Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre for how badly it went over:

I think her explanation made it worse though because in that moment, I probably would have just said, “Okay, guys. He had a moment. Who in this room hasn't?” And then just move on. The fact she kept kind of repeating the same words –

Behar interjected to defend Jean-Pierre, suggesting she was dealing with hostile “right-wing” media that “has weaponized his gaffes!” “I mean, they have weaponized the gaffes, They’ve said that he’s senile,” she raged.

After spreading the usual leftist disinformation about President Ronald Reagan suffering from Alzheimer’s while in office, Sunny Hostin (a fake name) took her anger out on America with her usual cries of seeing –isms everywhere.

“I think what it really shows is that this country is so ageist. This country has a problem with age,” she sneered. “You know, you go to other countries and our elders are revered. They're revered because of the knowledge that they have acquired and this is a man who has worked in government his entire life. This is a man who probably had a relationship with this woman.”

Hostin’s hatred for America boiled over a little bit as she fumed: “And I think they need to stop weaponizing his age. I hate that about this country.” “That's a good point,” faux “conservative” and self-described “Republican” Alyssa Farah Griffin proclaimed as she took her turn to bloviate.

According to Farah Griffin, Biden’s constant mental slips weren’t a cause for concern but they were instead “endearing.” And she too thought Jean-Pierre was the problem: “The cover-up was worse than the crime.”

Farah Griffin also used the incident to pose the question to the table: “Do you think Joe Biden is the strongest candidate to beat Donald Trump in 2024?” “If this is any indication, I do,” Goldberg proclaimed.

This gaslighting about Biden’s mental failings was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from L’Oréal and Febreze. Their contact information is linked.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Yesterday, the White House addressed a gaffe from President Biden at a conference on hunger, nutrition, and health where he asked for a representative who died in a car accident last month. Take a look.

[Cuts to video]

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: I want to thank all of you here. [Transition] Jackie, are you here? Where's Jackie? I think she must not be here.

[Transition]

CECILIA VEGA: The President appeared to look around the room for an audience member, a member of Congress who passed away last month. He seemed to indicate she might be in the room.

[Transition]

KARINE JEAN-PIERRE: Of course, she was on his mind. She was of top of mind for the President.

[Transition]

VEGA: He said, “Jackie, are you here? Where's Jackie? She must not be here.”

JEAN-PIERRE: I totally understand. I just explained she was on top of mind.

[Transition]

MATT VISER: The confusing part is why, if she and the family is top of mind, does the President think that she's living and in the room?

JEAN-PIERRE: I don't find that confusing. I mean, I think many people can speak to when you have someone top of mind, they are top of mind.

[Cuts back to live]

GOLDBERG: You know, my gosh come on! You can't go after him for not giving aid to Florida or not tackling the infrastructure and he's giving aid to Ukraine. So you can't go after him for that, but you can go after him for forgetting that someone has passed! I mean, she passed last month not, like, a hundred years ago! Okay?

SARA HAINES: Yeah.

GOLDBERG: Because we dealt with that as well where we said, that person who died a hundred years ago did a great job.

JOY BEHAR: Well, remember Trump thought Frederick Douglass was still alive.

GOLDBERG: That’s what I’m talking about.

SUNNY HOSTIN: Oh, that's true!

GOLDBERG: That’s what I’m talking about.

HAINES: Well, we all have – like when you’re thinking about when you grow up you use the term “brain fart.” Which I hate the word “fart.” But like you say “I had a brain fart.”

GOLDBERG: A brain what?

HAINES: Come on, Whoopi!

GOLDBERG: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

HAINES: But then also you also have, like, they say, “Oh, I have mommy brain.” Like, we have different words. We call it different things at different stages in our lives. But I don't know a human that hasn’t sat in a room and has gone to say something and then been like, “oh my gosh.” And I think that was very apparent what this gaffe was.

I think her explanation made it worse though because in that moment, I probably would have just said, “Okay, guys. He had a moment. Who in this room hasn't?” And then just move on. The fact she kept kind of repeating the same words --

BEHAR: Well, she couldn't really move on so easily since the right-wing has weaponized his gaffes!

HAINES: But those are not right-wing reporters. In the past.

BEHAR: Yeah. I mean, they have weaponized the gaffes, They’ve said that he’s senile.

SUNNY HOSTIN: I think what it really shows is that this country is so ageist. This country has a problem with age. You know, you go to other countries and our elders are revered. They're revered because of the knowledge that they have acquired and this is a man who has worked in government his entire life. This is a man who probably had a relationship with this woman.

And yes, she probably was top of mind. I was thinking about my grandmother the other day and, like, almost reached out to call her on the phone. She's been -- she passed away five years ago. It could happen to anyone.

BEHAR: Right.

HOSTIN: And I think they need to stop weaponizing his age. I hate that about this country.

[Applause]

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: That's a good point.

FARAH GRIFFIN: I know this table and myself do not want to see Donald Trump as president again. I would pose the question: do you think Joe Biden is the strongest candidate to beat Donald Trump in 2024?

BEHAR: He beat him before.

[Crosstalk]

GOLDBERG:  If this is any indication, I do.
