From the pro-life side, the entire issue of abortion is about "when does an unborn child get their rights as a human being?" And on Thursday’s edition of The View, Whoopi Goldberg proved that the anti-life side of the debate not only refuses to engage in that part of the question, but flat-out doesn’t care what the factual answer is.
As they were nearing the end of their first Hot Topics segment about abortion and the possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned, Goldberg (who also proved she didn’t care what the Holocaust was about) raged as self-described conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin got to the heart of the debate and why the pro-life side was so adamant about their position:
GRIFFIN: This is an uncomfortable conversation we have to have. At what point does a baby in the womb have rights separate from a mother?
GOLDBERG: Listen. It doesn't matter when you think it is. If I don't think that it is --
[Crosstalk]
GOLDBERG: Listen. I don't have to tell you.
BEHAR: It's none of your business.
GOLDBERG: It's your decision. What you do with your body, and how your family works.
“For me, I don't care what your religious beliefs are,” Goldberg sneered. But Griffin kept at it and noted: “it's not even a religion” question but rather “a philosophical debate” that we need to have as a society.
It’s clear that Goldberg doesn’t want to face the truth of the debate. On a previous show, she bitterly defended abortion by saying “Making that decision is not easy! It's not something people do lightly!” But why is it not easy, Whoopi? It’s because, as humans, we know abortion is taking a life. And in that same rant, she ridiculously claimed the baby also chooses if an abortion takes place.
Earlier in the segment, co-host Joy Behar whined that too many Americans were distracted by pesky things like gas price, inflation, and putting food on the table to care about losing their rights at the hands of evil Republicans:
I think Americans are in denial exactly about what this Republican party is planning to do. They would like to overturn voting rights. They would like to overturn gay rights. (…) They're in the process of overturning women's rights. (…) But I really think that Americans are not aware because they're worried about gas prices understandably. They're worried about inflation understandably.
“But the larger issue is that we are losing our rights on a regular basis, and I don't think that Americans get it. I really don't,” she chided. She was also upset that Americans were too “sympathetic and empathetic” to the rights of Ukrainians rather than their own. Meanwhile, Behar had worried that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine would harm her vacation to Italy.
Griffin also showed up co-host Sunny Hostin a little bit. After Hostin cherry-picked a poll saying “64 percent of Americans polled do not want Roe to be overturned,” Griffin shot back by noting a Pew Research poll showing 71 percent want some form of limitation on abortion (a 2022 Knights of Columbus/Marist polls shows similar results).
This ghoulish refusal to admit an unborn child has right was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from L’Oréal and Olay. Their contact information is linked.

JOY BEHAR: I want to say something. I think that there's a larger issue at stake right now. I think Americans are in denial exactly about what this Republican party is planning to do. They would like to overturn voting rights. They would like to overturn gay rights.
WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Keep saying it every day.
BEHAR: They're in the process of overturning women's rights. I think that the Democrats in a way, and I include myself as a Democrat, somebody who has been asleep at the switch in a certain way. Like when Obama had a majority, they should have done more on codifying -- I don't know the law, but maybe that's --
SUNNY HOSTIN: Codifying Roe.
[Crosstalk]
BEHAR: And they didn’t. And they didn't. They have been using abortion as a wedge issue. Both sides probably, and it's pathetic. But I really think that Americans are not aware because they're worried about gas prices understandably. They're worried about inflation understandably. But the larger issue is that we are losing our rights on a regular basis, and I don't think that Americans get it. I really don't.
GOLDBERG: I don't think they believe it.
BEHAR: They're sympathetic and empathetic to the Ukrainian people who are losing democracy, but not to their own country!
HOSTIN: This is why this, in my opinion, is so dumb by – for the Republican Party. We now know the Republican Party really is the MAGA party. It consists of the ultra MAGA party as well. It’s such an extremist party because it’s not in line with the American people. 64 percent of Americans polled do not want Roe to be overturned. And what is fascinating is that number includes independents. It includes Democrats and includes a large number of Republicans as well. It includes men and it includes women.
So, when you look at this, we're headed toward the midterms. Before, inflation was one of the number one issues for voters. Now, since May 3rd, abortion is now one of the number one issues across our country.
BEHAR: We'll see.
HOSTIN: And so, although they have been working for 50 years to pack the court because that's when they have been doing, to pack the court. Now, that they got their wish come true pushing in these three conservative justices and changing the composition of the court, now the bottom line is I think people are going to go, and they're going to go to the voting polls in large numbers, and they're going to vote these people out. And they need to be voted out.
ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: Those numbers are correct.
HOSTIN: Of course, the numbers are correct. I don't get the numbers wrong.
[Crosstalk]
BEHAR: She's sunny Hostin!
GRIFFIN: According to Pew Research, 71 percent of Americans believe there should be limitations on abortion. This is forcing a conversation --
HOSTIN: Some limitations, but not outlawed.
GRIFFIN: This is an uncomfortable conversation we have to have. At what point does a baby in the womb have rights separate from a mother?
GOLDBERG: Listen. It doesn't matter when you think it is. If I don't think that it is --

GOLDBERG: Listen. I don't have to tell you.
BEHAR: It's none of your business.
GOLDBERG: It's your decision. What you do with your body, and how your family works.
GRIFFIN: It's a really tough --
GOLDBERG: For me, I don't care what your religious beliefs are.
GRIFFIN: It's not even a religion. It's a philosophical debate. When does the baby in the womb --
