The “Big Three” networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) continued their marathon of covering up Democratic scandals and controversies, Monday, by failing to report the prison sentencing of a former Democratic Party “rising star” during their evening broadcasts. “A judge sentenced former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane on Monday to 10 to 23 months in prison for committing multiple felonies stemming from a politically motivated act of retribution,” reported CNN’s Max Blau.
Calling it an “act of retribution” is arguably an understatement. “In an episode that seemed more likely at a mob trial than a statehouse corruption case, Kane's political operative described being taken to a parking garage, stripped of his phone, keys and wallet and searched for a recording device before a lunch meeting with the attorney general,” the Associated Press reported after Kane’s conviction in August.
According to an article published by the Washington Examiner, “Kane is now a convicted felon and will spend the next 10 to 23 months behind bars for leaking grand jury documents in a scheme to embarrass her political rivals.” Kane used the aid of a consultant to craft a scenario to frame her chief deputy for the leaks, and used it lie to another grand jury.
The Examiner also noted that Kane’s judge had some choice words for the fallen star, “During sentencing Monday, Judge Wendy Demchick-Alloy labeled Kane a "neophyte" and a "politician consumed with her image."”
Not only was Kane a “rising star” within the party, but many Democrats fantasized about her one day unseating Pennsylvania’s Republican Senator Pat Toomey. Kane was also a former staffer on Hillary Clinton’s failed 2008 campaign for president. Former President Bill Clinton even endorsed Kane in her election to become the Attorney General stating, “as "a great Democrat who understands that an Attorney General's job is to stand up for consumers and people."”
Not only did the “Big Three” networks fail to mention the Democrat’s sentencing, but so did Spanish-language networks Univision and Telemundo. But their silence on Kane’s case is to be expect since they ignored it the first time around when a court convicted her in August.
