Appearing on Wednesday's Varney & Co. program on Fox Business, Media Research Center founder and president L. Brent Bozell III expressed disgust at a clip of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) being interviewed by Abby Phillip on CNN about Israel.
Phillip asked Ocasio-Cortez how Israel should respond to the massive slaughter of civilians on October 7: "What is Israel supposed to do about Hamas after they've murdered, brutalized, abducted over a thousand of their citizens? Are they supposed to do nothing?"
AOC babbled some radical talking points about Israel's strategy being “collective punishment and indiscriminate attack.” Varney was not impressed:
STUART VARNEY: You know, Brent, that really was a struggle, wasn't it? Well, the president is now on his way home. You know, he's really coming back to a badly divided party, is he not?
BRENT BOZELL: Yeah, and I'm sorry, but she's a blithering idiot. The question that the CNN reporter asked repeatedly was what should Israel do after a terrorist attack. The answer was, respond and declare war on the terrorists, which they did. [Laughter] It was a quick question, should have been a quick answer. She stumbled and stumbled and stumbled because for the simple reason they don't want to give the benefit of the doubt to Israel. And, therefore, it's all about the Palestinians. This was never about the Palestinians. This is about Hamas, a terrorist organization.
But she can't do it. The far left cannot do it. She and the Squad cannot show solidarity with Israel. And I challenge them right now on national television, I challenge you to say I stand unequivocally with Israel! They can't do it.
VARNEY: No, they can't. The challenge stands, and I'm glad you made it. Brent Bozell, you're all right. Thanks for joining us.
Bozell was also asked about how the "prestige media" so badly mangled the early reporting on an explosion at a hospital in Gaza on Tuesday. Varney showed CNN, Reuters, and the Associated Press all blamed Israel for the hundreds of deaths on scene. It later became clear -- and the Biden administration insisted -- that Israel was not responsible for the attack. Bozell made the point that the press shouldn't rush into blaming one side without evidence. That's what they did to Israel.
