MRC’s Bozell SHREDS FBI, Twitter Over Collusion to Spread ‘Disinformation’

December 22nd, 2022 11:56 AM

Locked and loaded Thursday morning on the Fox Business Network’s Varney & Co., Media Research Center Founder and President Brent Bozell told fill-in host David Asman that the FBI “knowingly” lied and peddled “disinformation” in a statement smearing the Twitter Files with it having been “none of [their] damn” business to suppress the New York Post’s Hunter Biden reporting.

Asman explained in the lead-in that the FBI responded to the Twitter Files by insisting they give “critical information to the private sector...to allow them to protect themselves” and that it’s “unfortunate that conspiracy theorists and others are feeding the American public misinformation for the sole purpose of attempting to discredit the agency.”

If Congress wanted to “do its job,” Bozell replied, they’d investigate Twitter and “look at that statement...because that was classic disinformation.”

Bozell then noted the importance of the FBI’s role in suppressing the spread of the original Post story in having allowed the media to steal the 2020 election:

That was knowingly — they told another lie they had been participating in this. Let’s go back. We need to understand the importance of Hunter Biden. Hunter Biden is the reason Joe Biden won for the simple reason that had the Hunter Biden story been told — we have proven it — that in the seven swing states where there was — where the — where the election was close, 54 percent of president Biden's supporters new nothing about Hunter Biden and when we told them about Hunter Biden, 9. 4 percent said they would not have voted for Biden, Donald Trump would have won Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Michigan — would have won every single state, 311 electoral votes.

He added that, since the FBI had the laptop, they and their leftist allies “knew how strong this was, so before it came out, they did everything in their power to discredit it.”

“So, for them to come out now and say, well, we just gave information out there on disinformation, first, it’s none of your damn job to be doing that. And number two, that — that’s not what you’re doing,” he said.

When Asman noted that “it’s certainly not” the FBI’s “job to be paying Twitter $3.5 million for the work that they’re doing,” Bozell called it out for what it was: “bribery.”

Asked to close out by elaborating on the liberal media’s “culpability...in all of this,” Bozell stated the reality that other outlets could have gone to the Post to examine the hard drive for themselves and they would have found it legitimate.

Instead, outlets such as The New York Times waited “two years before they said, yeah, you know, everything is true there.”

Bozell concluded with the reality that, if these news outlets “were serious about journalism, serious about getting to the truth,” they would all “look at this and we’ve shown you study after study where they refused to cover it” with the same now largely happening with the Twitter Files.

As we’ve shown ABC and NBC have remained stuck in censorship denialism with no mention of the latter on their flagship morning and evening shows with just 26 seconds on CBS Mornings on part one with minuscule coverage on CNN and MSNBC.

[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: Big Tech Censorship; FBI Issues Statement Blasting the Twitter Files]

DAVID ASMAN: Well, meanwhile, the FBI just released a statement blasting the newly released Twitter Files saying, “the FBI provides critical information to the private sector, in an effort to allow them to protect themselves and their customers, but we never direct or ask them to take action. It is unfortunate that conspiracy theorists and others are feeding the American public misinformation for the sole purpose of attempting to discredit the agency.” Brent Bozell joins us now. Brent, I love the FBI. I want to put that out first and foremost. They have done incredible work against crime syndicates and drug dealers etc. But the idea that is conspiracy theories that are — there driving the information that was in the Twitter Files specifically regarding misinformation that the FBI was providing about who might be responsible for the Hunter Biden story, that’s really insulting, is it?

BRENT BOZELL: It is. You know, I just hope if and when Congress gets around to doing its job, which is — I don't know if it will ever do its job, like we just heard, but if and when it does its job and investigates Twitter, I hope they will look at that statement —

ASMAN: Yeah.

BOZELL: — they just put out because that was classic disinformation.

The FBI knew this, the left knew how strong this was, so before it came out, they did everything in their power to discredit it. They — Mark Zuckerberg has admitted it, that the FBI, the Justice Department told them and pressured them not to say anything, not to allow anything —

ASMAN: Right.

BOZELL: — and he abided by what they did. So, for them to come out now and say, well, we just gave information out there on disinformation, first, it’s none of your damn job to be doing that.

ASMAN: Right. And — and, by the way —

BOZELL: And number two, that —

ASMAN: — by the way —

BOZELL: — that’s not what you’re doing.

ASMAN: — it’s certainly not their job to be paying Twitter $3.5 million for the work —

BOZELL: Oh yeah. [LAUGHS]

ASMAN: — that they’re doing. That's really a violation of the First Amendment. I got to talk —

BOZELL: David —

ASMAN: — we only have 30 seconds —

BOZELL: — David —

ASMAN: — Brent —

BOZELL: — David —

ASMAN: — Brent, Brent, we only have 30 seconds.

BOZELL: — that’s bribery.

ASMAN: I have to talk about the culpability —

BOZELL: It —

ASMAN: — of the media in all this because the media claims that they care about civil liberties and so forth but clearly, everything that we’re hearing in the Twitter Files is exactly the same stuff going on during Watergate in which they went ballistic about. You have the FBI, the CIA sending out misinformation to the media. I mean, that’s — the politicalization of these institutions is what Watergate is about, why aren't they reacting the same now as they did then? Quickly.

BOZELL: Very — very simple, the New York Post came out with that story, anybody who was interested could look to the New York Post and said, let's see what you've got on it and they would have seen it and they would run it as well. The New York Times took two years before they said, yeah, you know, everything is true there.

ASMAN: Right.

BOZELL: If they were serious about journalism, serious about getting to the truth, every media outlet would look at this and we’ve shown you study after study where they refused to cover it. And now, how they are refusing to cover Twitter — you know you guys are the only ones that are covering this Twitter Story?

ASMAN: It’s extraordinary.

BOZELL: No one else has covered it.

ASMAN: It’s just extraordinary. Brent Bozell, we got to leave it at that. Great to see you, Brent. Thank you so much. Excellent stuff. Have a —

BOZELL: Merry Christmas.

ASMAN: — Merry Christmas to you as well.
