President Obama may criticize and rail against those nasty one percenters, but he certainly loves them when he’s looking to raise money.
The Hollywood Reporter relayed that on October 1, a Q&A session will be held at the Los Angeles home of Hollywood producer/director J.J. Abrams and wife Katie McGrath to benefit the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. The cost to enjoy the presence of such elitists? A paltry $33,400 per person – for many people across America, that’s an annual salary.
Abrams and his wife each gave half a million this year to the super PAC Priorities USA Action, the one-time Obama committee now raising funds for Hillary Clinton. Abrams is producing the seventh installment of the Star Wars saga, The Force Awakens, after a series of blockbuster Star Trek and Mission Impossible films.
Obama’s money trip also includes being the guest of honor again at the home of interior designer Michael Smith and his partner James Costos, a former HBO honcho who is now serving as a U.S. ambassador to Spain. Tickets to attend Smith’s fundraiser are anywhere from $10,000-$33,400 and will benefit the DNC’s Democratic Hope Fund.
That event will be followed by a private concert at a Pacific Palisades home. The mystery performer is expected to be announced soon. Tickets for the concert range from $1,000 to $5,000 per person.
Meanwhile, that same day, rapper Kanye West – the man who said George W. Bush hates black people – is performing a concert for the DNC at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco, with tickets starting at $250-per-person.
