Phangs Out! Rick Wilson Can Ooze Misogyny, But He's Always Welcome on MSNBC

Katie Phang Rick Wilson MSNBC The Katie Phang Show 4-9-23 On Saturday, we caught Michael Cohen, appearing on Katie Phang's MSNBC show, speaking of Marjorie 'Toilet' Greene.

But that was mild compared to the truly vile, misogynistic tweet that Rick Wilson, of the disgraced Lincoln Project, recently made about the anatomy of the Republican congresswoman from Georgia.

After traveling to Manhattan for the Trump arraignment, in an interview with Tucker Carlson, Taylor Greene said of NYC: "It was repulsive, it smells bad, and I just I think it’s a terrible place."

In response, Wilson tweeted:

"But enough about her lady business."

Imagine a conservative saying something similar. There'd be immediate calls for his cancellation, and condemnation of any network that'd allow such a low-life on its air.

But on Sunday, there was Wilson on Phang's show. This time, Wilson trained his insult machine on Fox News viewers. At Fox, "they understand how to, how to stoke the great unwashed masses out there and to drive them into a frenzy." That was a follow-up to comments Wilson made on Jason Johnson's MSNBC show, in which he described Fox News viewers as a Frankenstein-like "monster" that has broken out of the lab. And as being "ineducable."

Apparently, MSNBC, by contrast never stokes the masses, because their audience is educated and washed and can't be driven into a frenzy.

Phang began by scorning MTG's wild comparison of Trump to Jesus and Mandela on the scene of Trump's arrest:

The GOP response to Trump' indictment has been all over the place. Senator Graham is literally begging for money, tears welling in his eyes. And during the holiest week for Christians, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is comparing Trump to—get this—Jesus. And Nelson Mandela.

But guess who else recently made that same comparison? Yup, it was Phang's MSNBC colleague, Joe Scarborough!

It's a bit rich for MSNBC to be touting "the holiest week for Christians," as if they're supportive of religion in politics. In introducing Wilson, Phang mentioned that he is the author of "Running Against The Devil." So: comparing Trump to Jesus? Sacrilege! But calling Trump "the Devil?" Book-title worthy!

On Katie Phang's MSNBC show, Rick Wilson calling Fox News viewers the "great unwashed masses" was sponsored in part by Verizon, GlaxoSmithKline, maker of Trelegy, and Panera.

Here's the transcript.

KATIE PHANG: The GOP response to Trump' indictment has been all over the place. Senator Graham is literally begging for money, tears welling in his eyes. And during the holiest week for Christians, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is comparing Trump to—get this—Jesus. And Nelson Mandela.

. . .

Joining me now is Rick Wilson, co-founder of the Lincoln Project, Republican media strategist, and the author of "Running Against The Devil."

. . .

You know, Rick, Dominion Voting Systems versus Fox, heading to a huge jury trial April 17th. Blockbuster filings revealing more and more evidence that Fox knew what it was peddling to its viewers were just lies about the 2020 election being stolen.

But do Fox viewers even care, and more importantly, will Fox continue to serve as a propaganda arm for the GOP going into the 2024 primaries?

RICK WILSON: Abso -- in answer to your second question, absolutely. I mean, you can already see it this week.

They fully made the turn. Ron DeSantis, who was on Fox every 35 seconds for about a year, was off for the last three for weeks now, declining. And last week he was off completely. They have made the turn back to Donald Trump.

They're gonna go back to Trump because that's where the bread and butter is. Their audience, their audience sort of cares a little bit about what they're hearing from the Dominion case in terms of the contempt that Fox hosts have for their audience, and Fox executives have for the audience

But overall, they understand how to, how to stoke the great unwashed masses out there and to drive them into a frenzy. And that's exactly what they're gonna do. So you're gonna see Fox back on its whole Antifa, BLM, trans panics, at a billion miles an hour as they rebuild their support and their infrastructure around making Donald Trump the single focus of their coverage in American politics.
