There's that famous scene from A Day At The Races in which a woman keeps urging Groucho Marx to hold her, "closer, closer." Eventually, Groucho says: "If I hold you any closer, I'll be in back of you!
Something similar could be said about the liberal media's endless proclamations, as NewsBusters has documented here and here, that the walls are "closing in" on Donald Trump. So, like Groucho with the lady, how much closer can the walls of the potential prosecution of Donald Trump get before they're behind him?
The latest iteration of those walls getting closer, closer, came from today's Morning Joe. Joe Scarborough and Eugene Robinson agreed that a variety of possible prosecutions were cornering Trump: "suddenly, you realize if you're Donald Trump, there are so many legal fronts that he's going to fight."
Then Scarborough teed up Robinson, saying, "all of it seems to be coming together right now. His misdeeds seem to be catching up to him all at once."
Robinson took it from there, and eventually said the Secret Words: "All these investigations move kind of slowly, but they're clearly creeping toward the former president. And he's under investigation in Atlanta, which is a very serious investigation. He's under investigation in New York. Civil violations. It's, it is, you know, it is all closing in."
All we needed was for Groucho's duck to come down to give Robinson that $100 bill!
It's par for the Trump course that MSNBC pundits pretend that all of these prosecutors pursuing Trump are nonpartisan. New York Democrat Letitia James and Atlanta Democrat Fani Willis and Washington Democrat Merrick Garland -- with the DoJ issuing 40 subpoenas in the last week! -- are all apolitical public servants who aren't seeking personal glory with the Trump-trashing press.
On Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough and Eugene Robinson agreeing that the walls are "closing in" on Donald Trump was sponsored in part by GlaxoSmithKline, maker of Trelegy, Chewy, Amazon, Abbott, maker of Rinvoq, and Discover.
Here's the transcript.

7:06 am EDTJOE SCARBOROUGH: Hey, Gene Robinson, it does seem, as you look at the news that breaks every day, that everybody was looking closely at what was going on in south Florida with the special master, with this very, let's just say, very creative ruling by the federal judge down there, the district court judge down there.
And while they were doing that, the DoJ had been moving in this completely new area, and suddenly, you realize if you're Donald Trump, there are so many legal fronts that he's going to fight.
EUGENE ROBINSON: Right.
SCARBOROUGH: All of the things we've been seeing him do through the years, and ask why is he above the law? Why is no one holding him accountable for doing things that would have other Members of Congress or senators thrown in jail in like a week's time? All of it seems to be coming together right now. His misdeeds seem to be catching up to him all at once.
ROBINSON: They do. All these investigations move kind of slowly, but they're clearly creeping toward the former president. And he's under investigation in Atlanta, which is a very serious investigation. He's under investigation in New York. Civil violations. It's, it is, you know, it is all closing in.
