Never pass up an opportunity to plug your book—even when discussing what you consider to have been a grave national crisis! That would appear to be Mika Brzezinski's credo. On Wednesday's Morning Joe, Brzezinski managed to work the title of her book into her praise of Cassidy Hutchinson, the former Trump White House aide who testified before the House January 6 committee hearing on Tuesday.
The praise for the anti-Trump witness was extravagant. Joe Scarborough called it "some of the most compelling testimony on Capitol Hill since Watergate." Willie Geist touted "a White House aide became the conscience of the nation! She's a couple years out of college, and she was the adult in the room, surrounded by those ostensible adults and ostensible leaders of our country who stood by and let it happen."
Said Mika:
"It took the strength of a young woman's character to show America and the world the truth, and in the process, show us the true meaning of courage and patriotism. This is a young woman who not just knows her value, but knows the value of her country!"
"Knows her value?" Wait! "Know Your Value" is the title of a book that Mika wrote in 2018, ostensibly teaching women how to get "the money, the job, the recognition they deserve."
Brzezinski subsequently turned the book into a cottage industry, described as "a nationwide women’s events series, an interactive website with content from professionals and influencers, and custom corporate events and programs."
They also unleashed a string of epithets for Trump's aides, Mika calling the men a "global embarrassment" and Joe "weak and feckless" and "unpatriotic," with Willie Geist chipping in "abject cowardice" in reference to former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows sitting on his phone.
Mika definitely demonstrated that when it comes to promoting her wares, she "knows the value" of product placement on national TV!
The Morning Joe tub-thumping on the January 6 Committee was sponsored in part by Trivago, Tempur-Pedic, and GlaxoSmith Kline, maker of Voltaren.

Morning Joe

6:01 am EDTJOE SCARBOROUGH: Yesterday, it had to be some of the most compelling testimony on Capitol Hill since Watergate. What was your takeaway?
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Well from my perspective, it was revealed, exposed really, that the men around Trump are weak, feckless cowards, who had this pathetic need to be close to a failed president. And they almost destroyed our democracy. And they almost got away with it.
And it, it took the strength, and I was really taken by this, of a young woman's character to show America and the world the truth, and in the process show us the true meaning of courage and patriotism. She's 25 years old. This is, this is a young woman who not just knows her value, but knows the value of our country, of our democracy. And these weak, honestly, these men around Trump are an embarrassment, honestly. A global embarrassment. And she revealed that yesterday.
SCARBOROUGH: They're weak and feckless, they're unpatriotic. Willie, my God, we learned yesterday that you had Trump's general [former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn] who took the Fifth when asked --
MIKA: Oh my God!
SCARBOROUGH: -- if he believed in peaceful transitions of power. We had a chief of staff who was told that there were guns, knives, spears, weapons in the crowd. His staff members rushed in to tell Mark Meadows. Mark Meadows just kept down looking down at his phone. Could not care less. And so much more. What was your takeaway, Willie?
WILLIE GEIST: I thought Mika nailed it. As I listened to that, I thought, my God, the abject cowardice of Mark Meadows sitting on this phone. And basically saying, what do you want me to do about it? Yes, he [Trump] thinks Mike Pence should be hanged. What am I supposed to do about that?
And as Mika said, a 24-year-old at the time --
MIKA: That's right!
GEIST: -- a White House aide, became the conscience of the nation! She's a couple years out of college, and she was the adult in the room, surrounded by those ostensible adults and ostensible leaders of our country who stood by and let it happen.
