Bozell on Levin: ‘Media Prefer People Believe Rights Granted By Government, Not God’

On Thursday, MRC President David Bozell joined The Mark Levin Show, one of the country’s top syndicated radio programs with 12 million weekly listeners, for a lively chat about media bias and cultural issues.

Calling in from Amsterdam, where he was gearing up for MRC’s Cruise to Norway with conservative stars like Joe Concha, Dana Loesch, Kevin Sorbo, and Lt. Col. Allen West, Bozell brought sharp and engaging insights. Hosted by Mark Levin, a longtime friend of the Bozell family, the interview stretched into two segments.

Levin kicked things off with a friendly, “How’s Papa Bear doing? And Mama Bear doing?” referring to David’s parents. Bozell shared that his father, the MRC’s founder, is preparing for Senate confirmation hearings as the South African Ambassador designee, currently traveling through Europe. Levin gave a nod to Bozell’s leadership, saying, “He’s handed it off to you, and you’re very able, an excellent choice to handle it.”

The first segment tackled the media’s alignment with the Democrat party, particularly on crime in Washington, D.C. Levin noted the progress in curbing crime under Trump’s policies, contrasting it with “the Democrats frothing at the mouth, full-throated attacks on Trump as an authoritarian, and the media are pretty much with the Democrats again, aren’t they?” Bozell exposed the media’s reliance on fake statistics to hurt Trump: “The media cited a falsified crime report 73 times in one night. CNN and MSNBC combined cited the false report that got the former police chief fired — they cited it themselves 73 times in one night. It’s a new low.” Bozell highlighted public concern, citing a poll showing “99% of the country thought that crime in big cities was a big problem.”

Levin shifted to the broader media-Democrat alignment, asking, “In all your years doing this, have you seen much of a gap between the Democrats and the media in terms of what the media report, what the media prioritize? I mean, I don’t think there is much of a gap, is there, especially in the last 24 hours?” Bozell responded, referring to the Minnesota school shooter, “when you have Gavin Newsom and the mayor, Mayor Frey, attacking prayer, and then, in lockstep, Jen Psaki, Michael Steele, and Dana Bash do the same thing — attacking prayer — I mean, that is a new low.” He added that the left-wing media ecosystem seemed to coordinate: “Some interesting talking points went out across the left-wing ecosystem: ‘Let’s go attack prayer.’”

Bozell also criticized the media’s fixation on trivial details: “You would think that the country would sit down and have a discussion about gun control. I really do think that this could happen if the media reported this tragedy, and tragedies like it, soberly, accurately, patiently. Instead, they’re tripping all over themselves as to what to call this guy or girl. Robert or Robin, and so that’s what they’re fixated on.” He added, “Jake Tapper, for an hour, just called him ‘the shooter,’ not even addressing the name for an hour on CNN the other day.” Bozell highlighted the media’s selective coverage of illegal immigration, noting their tendency to ignore certain stories while heavily promoting others. For example, he pointed out that a deadly crash involving a Florida trucker received zero minutes from the networks. At the same time, “Abrego-Garcia, the so-called ‘Maryland Man,’ got 17 additional minutes from the broadcast networks just over the weekend.”

Levin extended the interview into a second segment, revealing, “David, I didn’t know you were in Europe. It’s 2:30 in the morning there. Thank you, brother.” Bozell replied, “Hey, anything for you, sir. You’re not just a great one — you’re the GOAT, in my opinion.” The conversation shifted to the media’s anti-Israel bias. Bozell observed, “The United States legacy media — I call them the ‘upper-class’ media, have really kind of caught up to where global leftist media have been for quite some time, in being more anti-Israel and more pro-Palestine, more pro-Hamas.” He added, “You’ve also got an anti-religious bias. They’re anti-faith. They’re anti-Judeo-Christian, the Judeo-Christian founding of our country. The leftist media would prefer that people believe that rights are granted by government, not by God.” This bias, he noted, is also driven by opposition to Trump’s pro-Israel policies.

Levin wrapped up with high praise: “This is a fantastic group. Media Research Center. They’ve been around for decades. David’s father founded the organization over 30 years ago. I’ve known your father for, like, over 30 years.” Bozell replied with a chuckle, “Don’t age yourself, come on.”
