'View' Insists Republicans Can't Win Without Cheating: Going to 'Commit a Crime' in Georgia

November 17th, 2020 3:33 PM

After spending the past four years rejecting the 2016 election results, the media is suddenly concerned that democracy will die because President Trump hasn't conceded the election results. This blatant hypocrisy was on full display at The View Tuesday, where the bitterly partisan co-hosts agreed that Republicans couldn’t even win any election without cheating.

Discussing the disputed conversation between Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Georgia’s Secretary of State where the Secretary of State said Graham threatened him over mail-in-ballots, Joy Behar immediately started spreading conspiracy theories:

“So what can we deduce from this?” Behar declared. “Lindsey Graham, Trump has something on him, some leverage,” she surmised. Sunny Hostin agreed urging Senate Democrats to investigate to see if Graham “committed a crime.”

Meanwhile, Whoopi Goldberg attacked Republicans for even investigating allegations of voter fraud in the presidential election, saying they were besmirching the character of infallible poll workers:

I am shocked by the fact that the Republicans would be foolish enough to basically say to all the poll workers who volunteered to be part of this process that you are liars and cheats. They are basically saying that the people who did all this work came out for nothing, didn't come for pay, who came out to help do this, are liars and cheats.

Whoopi and Joy Behar then went through bizarre leaps of logic to make their case that Republicans are election cheaters.

Whoopi complained that Republicans didn’t stand up for Democrat Stacey Abrams after she made debunked claims Republicans cheated. To this day, she refuses to accept she lost her 2018 race even though she lost by far more in just Georgia than Trump is losing to Biden in Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin, combined:

The other thing I want to point out is when Stacey Abrams lost her bid for governor and she said there had been shenanigans going on, I don't recall one Republican saying Oh my goodness let's take a look. Democrats complained that you know rejected absentee ballots and suspended voter registration led to wide disenfranchisement. Nobody said a word.

While Behar insisted that Republicans could only win by cheating, but Democrats don’t want cheating that’s why they’re in favor of fraud-prone mail-in-ballots:

Bottom line, Whoopi, is that the Republican party knows the only way they can win is by cheating. So they know that. Lindsey Graham has admitted that himself. He said mail-in voting will be the end of the Republican party...They'll do whatever they have to do to win.

The co-hosts proposed the Republican senator was meddling in the Georgia Senate runoff elections. Like Behar, a suspicious Sunny Hostin suspected Republicans were doing a "dry run" for when they "commit a crime" in those runoff elections:

...[M]y sense is, try to find these alleged voting irregularities so when there's possibly a close race or perhaps the Democratic senators win, they can now do these shenanigans over and over and over again. I suspect this could be a dry run, right? When you're going to commit a crime, a lot of people have these dry runs, right?

WHOOPI GOLDBERG:  Right. Well, I have to tell you, I am shocked by the fact that the Republicans would be foolish enough to basically say to all the poll workers who volunteered to be part of this process that you are liars and cheats. They are basically saying that the people who did all this work came out for nothing, didn't come for pay, who came out to help do this, are liars and cheats. The other thing I want to point out is when Stacey Abrams lost her bid for governor and she said there had been shenanigans going on, I don't recall one Republican saying Oh my goodness let's take a look.

JOY BEHAR: Of course not.

GOLDBERG: Democrats complained that you know rejected absentee ballots and suspended voter registration led to wide disenfranchisement. Nobody said a world. Nobody said boo. I expect that the people in Georgia will look at those Republicans who are questioning their commitment to making fair elections in their state. I would say it to y'all. These are the people who say they want to represent you. The same people who are calling you liars and cheats are saying we want to represent your best interests. Do they really?

JOY BEHAR:  Bottom line, Whoopi, is that the Republican party knows the only way they can win is by cheating. So they know that. Lindsey Graham has admitted that himself. He said mail-in voting will be the end of the Republican party. So they have to do something. They'll do whatever they have to do. They'll do whatever they have to do to win. The Democrats have to keep after them. Also, doesn't this have something to do with Georgia in the run-offs?

SUNNY HOSTIN: Yes.

[CROSS-TALK]

SUNNY HOSTIN: Yeah that is what I was going to say.. To Sara's point, I think this has something to do with the run-off election. We know the balance of the Senate--The senate hangs in the balance. My sense is, try to find these alleged voting irregularities so when there's possibly a close race or perhaps the Democratic senators win, they can now do these shenanigans over and over and over again. I suspect this could be a dry run, right? When you're going to commit a crime, a lot of people have these dry runs, right?
