Thursday, the media continued bringing President Trump into their live coverage of former President George H.W. Bush’s funeral proceedings. Instead of comparing their presidencies, ABC took it a step further late Thursday, with two of its journalists crudely mocking how President Trump’s own funeral would be different.
The comments came towards the end of the funeral procession December 6, as the ABC News team discussed Bush’s legacy and personality. Pointing out how the president had his funeral arranged beforehand, ABC’s chief foreign correspondent Terry Moran actually joked around with reporter Devin Dwyer about how President Trump would want a more flamboyant funeral:
DWYER: And perhaps a recognition in terms of his involvement in the proceedings, by President Trump, that he someday will be getting a similar treatment, when he passes, then as a former President of the United States--
UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER#1: Probably a different tone.
UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER #2: Perhaps!
MORAN: First, he’s going to choreograph it. So, there may be more trumpets and fanfare. ...
DWYER: Maybe he’s taking it cues. Yes he will do it bigger.
MORAN: It will be the best presidential funeral ever. No one will ever have seen anything like that.
USA Today and Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra first caught the cringe-worthy display:

So far ABC has received a lot of flak for this exchange, but no statement or apology was issued during their morning show, Good Morning America, today.
