While a meme comparing both presidential candidates to Harry Potter villains is going viral, the media only cares about demonizing one candidate. After the popular book series’ author J.K. Rowling called Donald Trump, worse than Voldemort, the media have been eagerly trying to get Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe to bash Trump as well.
Yesterday, British media outlet Sky News apparently asked the actor what he thought about Rowling’s tweet, and Radcliffe responded:
“I sort of feel like Donald Trump might not be as ideologically pure as Voldemort,” he stated with a chuckle. “Because my thing on Trump is that, you know, he feels like more of an opportunist. I don’t know how much of this stuff he’s saying he actually really, really believes. And he sort of hides behind the sort of thing, 'Oh I’m just an entertainer,' and all that. But yeah, that comparison is certainly not without its merits,” he stated.
But Sky News isn’t the only media outlet apparently overwhelmingly concerned with getting an English actor’s opinions on the U.S. election published. In various interviews in the past two weeks, Radcliffe has been asked what he thought about Trump, seemingly from the platform of him playing a skinhead in a new film. He even criticized Trump in a recent interview with the BBC, for stirring up feelings of “fear and hatred.”
Radcliffe also told AP that Trump would probably be elected and end up hating the job, because he would have to “care” for people. “Hopefully Hillary will win,” he added, “but I’m not too hopeful.”
