Thursday morning Funny or Die published a comedic skit with Hillary Clinton and today journalists and celebrities are gushing about it on Twitter. The liberal comedic group founded by actor Will Ferrell, frequently mocks conservatives and Christians while promoting liberal ideas and politicians in a satirical way. In 2014, Zach Galifianakis’ interview with President Obama for the show went viral and apparently now it’s Hillary’s turn to get the same fawning attention from the media.
The skit called “Between Two Ferns” mocks antiquated interview styles with host Galifianakis acting the part of the misogynistic and off-putting interviewer. In the sketch he asks Clinton, “What will happen if you become pregnant? Are we going to be stuck with Tim Kaine for nine months? How does this work?” and asking if she’s excited to become the first “girl president” as well as the “first white president” for younger generations.
Galifianakis also pokes fun at conservatives by using their language to ask derogatory questions to Clinton about guns and President Obama.
Vox hailed the interview as “the best” Hillary Clinton “has ever done” while Mediaite called it “absolutely awesome.” The Intercept’s Glenn Greenwald advised everyone to watch it while actress and Clinton supporter Elizabeth Banks tweeted, “So good, so funny,” and New York Times journalist Binyamin Appelbaum called it “very funny.”
