Jennings SCHOOLS CNN: Dems Will Smear Any GOP Nominee Like Trump

March 5th, 2023 5:48 PM

During Sunday’s State of the Union on CNN, political commentator and GOP strategist Scott Jennings expertly demonstrated that it doesn't matter who Republicans nominate for President in 2024 or in any year. Democrats and their allies in the leftist media will smear and attack whoever the GOP nominee is, and they will be smeared the same way Trump was.

Defeated former Democrat Congressman Mondaire Jones said the quiet part out loud when he admitted it doesn’t matter who Republicans nominate because they all “would pose an existential threat to democracy itself.”

Jones thought that since all potential candidates are threats to democracy, he believed that Trump should be the 2024 nominee since “Donald Trump will be the easiest person to defeat on that side.”

This led to Jennings going off on Jones and the rest of the leftists on the State of the Union panel.

“I believe we're hearing what's going to happen. It doesn't matter who the Republicans nominate,” Jennings observed. “That person’s gonna be called everything that they would call Donald Trump, whether it's DeSantis or anybody else, Democrats always do this.”

Reminiscing to past GOP nominees who were all falsely smeared and lied about by Democrats and their media allies, Jennings recalled “George W. Bush, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Donald Trump…[t]hey were all history's greatest monsters.”

Ending his trade against Jones, Jennings said “if you really believe what you say, then you would be happy about the rise of any other candidate.”

This is obviously true. If Democrats really thought Trump was such a grave threat to American “democracy” then they would welcome DeSantis’s rise in the polls.

In reality, the grifters like The Lincoln Project and the Bulwark need Trump to stay in the public eye. If Trump fades away, all their donor money will dry up and they will need to find a new way to scam people.

MONDAIRE JONES: To be sure, nothing is good about the fact that the modern-day Republican Party has this person as its standard-bearer.

S.E. CUPP: And is this weak, right?

JONES: But if you believe, as I believe, that whether the nominee is Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis or even Nikki Haley, that that would pose an existential threat to democracy itself, which is what we have seen with the opposition of voting rights and the election denialism and so many other things, then you're happy that Donald Trump will be the easiest person to defeat on that side.

CUPP: You say that now.

SCOTT JENNINGS: I believe we're hearing what's going to happen. It doesn't matter who the Republicans nominate. That person’s gonna be called everything that they would call Donald Trump, whether it's DeSantis or anybody else, Democrats always do this. George W. Bush, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Donald Trump—

CUPP: They were all monsters.

JENNINGS: They were all—they were all history's greatest monsters. And the only good Democrat or the only good Republican, I guess, is a dead or defeated one. That's when the praise starts. If you really believe what you say, then you would be happy about the rise of any other candidate.
