MSNBC's McCaskill Wails Over GOP Weaponization Committee Hearings

February 9th, 2023 11:27 PM

On MSNBC’s Deadline: White House, MSNBC contributor and failed Senator Claire McCaskill had a full blown meltdown over the first hearing by the House Republican subcommittee on weaponization of the federal government on Thursday. While she didn’t express this or any other coherent argument other than throwing out ad hominem attacks, perhaps McCaskill is worried about what the committee might find out.

McCaskill started out by personally attacking two of the committee’s witnesses: Senators Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson.

“If this was about making a compelling TV show for the American people, Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson are not TV you want to see,” McCaskill huffed. “I just got to point that out at the top. If that's your lead, if that's what you're going with as your very first play, you're in big trouble.”

The bitter white liberal wine mom then melted down about how the FBI & James Comey allegedly cost Hillary Clinton the 2016 election:” I'm not saying DOJ's never made mistakes, I think Comey made a big mistake when he, outside of all protocol, did a press hit on Hillary Clinton in the 11th hour of a presidential campaign,” she wailed.

“And guess what? She lost. And a lot of—a big case could be made that she lost the presidency because of what the head of the FBI decided to do. Which turned out to be a nothing burger”

Later on in the unhinged segment, McCaskill became further unglued and lashed out at the other witnesses at Thursday’s committee: “I think the irony will become clear to everyone except that hardened little bubble, that think Jonathan Turley is a real lawyer, that think Tulsi Gabbard is an independent player,” she cried.

“I mean, look at this, I mean, all three of those politicians are Putin apologists. I mean, Tulsi Gabbard loves Putin,” McCaskill falsely claimed.

If McCaskill is melting down like this after the committee’s first opening hearing, imagine how unglued she will become when the tyrannical behavior of the Biden DOJ & FBI is uncovered. The janitors at MSNBC will have to peel Claire off the ceiling.

MSNBC’s Deadline: White House

CLAIRE MCCASKILL: Yeah, first, let me just say, if this was about making a compelling TV show for the American people, Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson are not TV you want to see. I just got to point that out at the top. If that's your lead, if that's what you're going with as your very first play, you're in big trouble. And of course, the interesting thing is, if you compare the two committees, you had one that was full of Trump appointees and Republicans as witnesses.

Here, you have a couple of Senators who are, as you know, politicians who won't even take questions. So, as I said today on my Twitter feed, come for the clown show, Grassley and Johnson, and Gabbard and stay for the truth, Jamie Raskin. And that's, I think, what the Congressman pointed out, the strength of this committee is going to be the Democrats' ability to talk about the truth.

And one truth that was not mentioned today, that I saw, was that -- I'm not saying DOJ's never made mistakes, I think Comey made a big mistake when he, outside of all protocol, did a press hit on Hillary Clinton in the 11th hour of a presidential campaign. And guess what? She lost. And a lot of -- a big case could be made that she lost the presidency because of what the head of the FBI decided to do. Which turned out to be a nothing burger.

MCCASKILL: Listen, the weaponization of government is such an ironic title for this committee and I think the irony will become clear to everyone except that hardened little bubble, that think Jonathan Turley is a real lawyer, that think Tulsi Gabbard is an independent player, I mean, look at this, I mean, all three of those of those politicians are Putin apologists.

I mean, Tulsi Gabbard loves Putin. So, this notion that these are the people that America should be following, I think, will be exposed in the coming weeks if they continue down this path. This was a very bad idea and the people they have on this committee are the fringe of the fringe, and by the way, you can't—

I got news for the Republicans. You are the leaders now in the House of Representatives, the people put you there. You can't be a leader and a victim at the same time. I have preached that to people all of my adult life. You gotta pick what you are. Are you a victim or are you a leader? It's clear that they are most comfortable trying to pretend they're a victim.
