As NewsBusters previously reported, the leftist media is in full melt-down mode over a report from Politico that the Supreme Court is set to strike down Roe v Wade.
Just like their colleagues on MSNBC, CNN also lashed out over the possibility of Roe v Wade getting overturned. On CNN Tonight, anchor Anderson Cooper while reporting from Ukraine moderated a panel to discuss the news.
Cooper turned to Zoom masturbation expert and CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin to get his reaction, noting that he “predicted this would happen.”
“I predicted it would happen, but I sure as hell didn't predict it would happen this way. You just have to understand what a breach of Supreme Court tradition this is” Toobin said with apparent shock about the unprecedented leak out of the court. “This was known as the one leak-proof institution in Washington. There has never been anything like a leak of this magnitude, anything close”
“It's just an indication of how riven the Supreme Court is by anger and viciousness over this issue” Toobin noted. Turning to the substance of the court’s apparent ruling, the perverted analyst bemoaned how the court’s decision means that “a constitutional right that women have had in this country for fifty years, pushing three generations, is gone.”
He then falsely claimed that overturning Roe wouldn’t mean that abortion would be left to the states to decide because “what we are seeing in these states that are banning abortion is they are reaching out. They are trying to ban abortion in the whole country.” Toobin continued kvetching over the court:
They are criminalizing attempts for members from other states to try to get to try to ban abortion within their states. I mean, this is a constitutional earthquake if it stands. And American life, not just American law, will be very different if this is the law of the land.
Toobin is obviously wrong about abortion not being left up to the states if Roe is indeed overturned. Democrat states like California and New York would never ban or even restrict abortion.

But putting the procedural issue aside, what this means if this is, in fact, a Supreme Court decision that is, as Justice Alito's words stand, as the court's decision, what this means is that a constitutional right that women have had in this country for fifty years, pushing three generations, is gone. It is gone overnight, and it is now up to the politicians.
And this idea that it is simply returning the abortion rights to the states is not really correct because what we are seeing in these states that are banning abortion is they are reaching out. They are trying to ban abortion in the whole country. They are banning the use of the mails [sic] for medical abortions. They are banning travel for abortion purposes. They are criminalizing attempts for members from other states to try to get to try to ban abortion within their states. I mean, this is a constitutional earthquake if it stands. And American life, not just American law, will be very different if this is the law of the land.
