Almost a year and a half since laughably claiming Russia stole Hunter Biden's e-mails or that the entire scandal was part of a "Russian disinformation campaign", CBS Evening News finally returned to reality and reported on his corrupt business activities. While all three evening newscasts covered the story, CBS's coverage was the most straightforward and free from making the story solely about former President Trump or defending Hunter Biden's degeneracy.
In the report by CBS's senior investigative correspondent Catherine Herridge, it was revealed to viewers how a "federal investigation into Hunter Biden's business practices is broader than previously known" and the "probe is exploring whether the younger Biden and his associates violated tax, money laundering, and foreign lobbying laws."
Herridge revealed the details of business records and documents released by Congressional Republicans, which "indicate multiple financial transactions involving Hunter Biden, his firm, and a Chinese energy company called C.E.F.C."
She noted that "the company is an arm of the Chinese government" and a "$1 million retainer was signed with the Chinese energy company for Hunter Biden's services as a lawyer" in the same year that Joe Biden left office as Vice President.
One additional juicy detail was revealed that one of Hunter Biden's clients, Patrick Ho, was "convicted of international bribery and money laundering charges for unrelated work in Africa."
Later on in the report, Herridge noted that Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley took to the Senate floor to speak out against the corruption of the Biden family:
GRASSLEY: Hunter Biden and James Biden served as the perfect vehicle by which the communist Chinese government could gain inroads here in the United States.
It was also reported how White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has thus far refused to comment on scandals surrounding Hunter Biden:
PSAKI: I’d point you to the Department of Justice and Hunter Biden's representatives. I'm a spokesperson for the United States. He doesn't work for the United States.
Finally, Herridge aired a portion of an interview CBS did last year with Hunter in which he was asked if he had ever given his father any money from his business ventures. To which he replied "No". During a follow-up on if he had transferred money to his father "directly or indirectly", he insisted he never gave President Biden money "directly or indirectly".
Herridge was able to cover this kind of detailed report because she has been all over it from the beginning... back when she was still at Fox News and CBS was trying to get Joe Biden elected.

6:41:00 p.m. EasternNORAH O’DONNELL: Tonight, the White House is firing back after former President Donald Trump called on Vladimir Putin to release information on President Biden's son Hunter. And it comes as we're learning new details about the federal investigation into Hunter Biden and his business dealings with a Chinese energy company. Here's CBS's Catherine Herridge.
CATHERINE HERRIDGE: Multiple sources tell CBS News that the federal investigation into Hunter Biden's business practices is broader than previously known. The probe is exploring whether the younger Biden and his associates violated tax, money laundering, and foreign lobbying laws. Business records reviewed by CBS News and documents released by Republicans in Congress indicate multiple financial transactions involving Hunter Biden, his firm, and a Chinese energy company called C.E.F.C. Republicans allege that the company is an arm of the Chinese government. In 2017, the year after Joe Biden left the Vice Presidency, a $1 million retainer was signed with the Chinese energy company for Hunter Biden's services as a lawyer. His client, a C.E.F.C. official, Patrick Ho was later convicted of international bribery and money laundering charges for unrelated work in Africa. This week on the Senate floor, Republican Chuck Grassley presented financial records that he said showed six-figure payments from the Chinese energy company to Hunter Biden's firm.
SEN. CHUCK GRASSLEY (R-IA): Hunter Biden and James Biden served as the perfect vehicle by which the communist Chinese government could gain inroads here in the United States.
HERRIDGE: Allegations about Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings reached a fever pitch during the 2020 campaign.
DONALD TRUMP: Hunter was being paid for access to his Vice President father.
HERRIDGE: Earlier this month, White House spokesperson Jen Psaki was asked about the current investigation.
WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY JEN PSAKI: I’d point you to the Department of Justice and Hunter Biden's representatives. I'm a spokesperson for the United States. He doesn't work for the United States.
HERRIDGE: An attorney for Hunter Biden did not respond to CBS News. Last year, he told correspondent Anthony Mason the President did not financially benefit.
ANTHONY MASON: Have you ever given your father money from any of your
HUNTER BIDEN: No.
MASON: Business ventures.
BIDEN: No.
MASON: Nothing?
BIDEN: Nothing.
MASON: Directly or indirectly?
BIDEN: Directly or indirectly.
HERRIDGE: Today the White House declined to comment on the record and directed reporters to earlier statements. That President Biden has never considered being in business with his family or any business overseas.
