The Elitist Media Evening News, in furtherance of a Resistance™ agenda, continue to do as much as possible to demonize immigration enforcement under the Trump administration. Case in point, ABC’s report on the ICE arrest of a California man.
To be clear, “California man” isn’t a clever euphemism á la “Maryland Dad.” For more details watch the full report below, as aired on ABC World News Tonight on Tuesday, October 20th, 2026:

DAVID MUIR: Tonight, the disturbing images of violent confrontation involving ICE agents, federal immigration officers taking down a U.S. citizen. He can be heard saying “help me”. ABC's Trevor Ault on the images from California tonight.
TREVOR AULT: Tonight, growing outrage over the tactics of federal immigration agents after this takedown of an American citizen in Southern California.
RICARDO GONZALEZ: Help me, my arm is **** broken!
AULT: Ricardo Gonzalez is seen riding his bike Saturday. ICE agents then drive a black SUV the wrong way in that residential neighborhood, suddenly cutting him off. It's not clear from the video why the agents stopped him but moments later, a different angle obtained by CNN capturing this moment before Gonzalez ends up face down on the ground in handcuffs, screaming.
GONZALEZ: My arm is broken.
AULT: As a crowd gathers. Gonzalez is seen in custody shouting at the agents.
GONZALEZ: You're aggressive. You're beyond aggressive, man. Come on.
AULT: Congressman Robert Garcia is now demanding an explanation, saying Gonzalez is a U.S. citizen.
ROBERT GARCÍA: It's disgusting, and every single person should condemn it. And there should be a full investigation as to what happened there.
AULT: But today, ICE portrayed Gonzalez as an agitator who was arrested after he smashed the mirror of a government vehicle. They add: “Resisting arrest is dangerous and can result in injury.” And David, tonight Gonzalez is out free, after he was treated and released from the hospital. David.

ABC pulled at viewers’ heartstrings- first by noting that Gonzalez is a U.S. citizen which implies incompetence on the part of ICE, and then brutality by airing him twice yelling about his arm. Then, you have an additional layer of burnishing ICE malfeasance by airing Congressman Robert García’s soundbite. It should be noted that García is the likely Oversight Committee Chair if the Democrats take the House, and ABC is setting him up for plenty of airtime.
It isn’t until the very end of the report that Trevor Ault gets into the reason González was arrested to begin with. Per the Department of Homeland Security:
On October 17, 2026, ICE conducted a targeted enforcement operation in Long Beach, California to arrest an at-large criminal illegal alien. During the operation, anti-ICE agitators attempted to impede operations, threaten officers, and damage government vehicles despite officers giving lawful commands. Officers followed their training and used the minimum amount of force.
ICE did NOT hit an individual on a bike. An individual was arrested after he smashed the mirror of a government vehicle. Resisting arrest is dangerous and can result in injury.
The rioter was transferred to the custody of local police, and we are investigating potential charges for the damage to a government vehicle.
Talk about burying the lede. Another rioter, enabled by the far left, tries to take violent action against the lawful enforcement of our borders. The media instead make him the victim of the story.
The record will reflect that the Elitist Media are selective about what ICE arrests they air. Here’s one from New Jersey that they purposefully missed:

Per the Department of Justice:
The Officers ordered Licona Amador to stop moving, but he refused to comply with this order. Officers then opened the driver’s side door of the truck and attempted to physically remove Licona Amador from the vehicle. Licona Amador pulled away from the Officers and moved over to the passenger side of the truck, still holding the hammer. The Officers attempted to restrain and detain Licona Amador, and they issued commands to Licona Amador.
Licona Amador did not comply with the Officers’ commands. Instead, Licona Amador climbed out of the passenger side of the truck while holding a hammer.
Once out of the truck, Licona Amador proceeded to climb on top of the passenger door and began swinging his hammer at two ICE Officers. Licona Amador swung his hammer multiple times at the Officers.
Do you think we’ll see a report on A-block about an illegal alien coming at ICE officers with a hammer? With bodycam video? Probably not.
Once again, we are reminded that if it weren’t for double standards, there would be none at all.
