It is officially election season and the time for cordiality in the Democratic Primary will soon come to an end. With the first debate set to go down Wednesday night, the candidates will quickly be chasing the Democratic nomination like a pack of hungry wolverines in pursuit of the opportunity to run against President Trump.
PBS NewsHour White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor wasted no time throwing the political mud. On a Wednesday segment of Morning Joe, she went after former Vice President and current Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden for having the audacity to say that he spent his career working with people he disagreed with, including segregationist Senators.
Responding to a question from host Joe Scarborough, Alcindor unleashed the worst insult a Democrat can get from a fellow Democrat: that he sounded no different than President Trump:
ALCINDOR: I think as much as Steve said he's not focused on whether or not these issues are going to be retroactively looked at. I think, as a reporter, I'm very much interested in that. I’m very much interested in whether or not other candidates are going to try to hold Joe Biden accountable because I heard from a lot of African-American -- young African-Americans, including people who are Ferguson protesters and other people, who were just very taken aback by the idea that Joe Biden would want to talk about a civil time of working with segregationists.
Because the elephant in the room is that people were worried that he was talking about “Making America Great Again,” this idea that if you look back at America's history, you'll find some amazing time where everyone was getting along. Where with African-Americans, it's when you go forward in American history, you actually start seeing progress for the vast majority of the people that make up the grassroots of the Democratic Party, not backwards, black people don't usually look backwards to look at the good times.
As the current leader in the polls, Joe Biden is in the crosshairs of a progressive base that believes his record is not progressive enough for today’s Democratic Party. The fact that a supposed journalist like Alcindor is helping lead the charge shows just how far left the Democratic Party and their allies in the media have become.
After cheering Biden for eight years as Barack Obama's VP, some in the liberal media now seem eager to turn on him in favor of more far-left 2020 contenders.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Yamiche, also fairly remarkable, not quite as remarkable but fairly remarkable, was watching the reaction to Joe Biden's comments on Jim Eastland and working with other segregationists and you always look at a campaign and see who reacts and if they have people standing behind them and, my gosh, Joe Biden in South Carolina had Jim Clyburn. He had John Lewis, the living legend of the civil rights movement, had Reverend Al Sharpton, all standing up and speaking out and vouching for Joe Biden. That certainly had to help. We saw those polls. That certainly had to help with some voters in South Carolina and across the country.
YAMICHE ALCINDOR: As much as it might have helped but I think it was also what you saw on display was this generational divide. You named Jim Clyburn, reverend Al Sharpton, these are older African Americans. Of course, John Lewis being an icon in the civil rights movement, those are all people that -- people will listen to and say okay, I understand your point that you’re taking, but Joe Biden was also talking about not just segregationists, I think that’s one way to describe these men, but they were also people who were calling for the mass murder for people of African-American descent.
So I think what we're talking about is whether or not Joe Biden can move past this. I heard you say earlier, Joe, that he’s kind of moved passed some of these looks at his background and I think if I'm someone going on stage with Joe Biden -- Kamala Harris or even Marianne Williamson, other people, you're trying to remind people, "Look at what Joe Biden has been through just in the first couple of weeks.
