In the Tank: CNN Endorses Biden's 'Leadership' vs. Trump

June 25th, 2020 4:07 PM

On Thursday morning’s New Day, CNN hosts John Berman and Alisyn Camerota brought on political analyst David Gregory and economist Paul Romer to manipulate viewers into thinking that Joe Biden was the only “leader” in the 2020 presidential race and influence the election with Democratic Party propaganda.

Sounding like a member of the Biden campaign's communications team, Berman first questioned President Trump’s leadership:

Yeah, leaders need to lead. And we're starting to see the impact, David, of voters not seeing the leadership that they want. There's this new round of polling out from The New York Times this morning looking at the key battleground states showing Joe Biden opening up to a very wide lead across the board against the president there. And one other thing I just want to get to because we just got this in, and I don't know if people have seen it.

He was very clearly trying to make Biden look like a better leader than Trump. But what exactly has Biden done to justify CNN's confidence? By only making one public appearance in the last three months? By forgetting the words to the Declaration of Independence? What solutions to the coronavirus epidemic has Biden provided? The CNN anchor showed no interest in answering any of those questions.

Actually, maybe Berman could be alluding to Biden’s leading role as a segregationist in the late 1970s. Biden consistently fought against integrated schools during this time period, and joined hands with ardent Dixiecrat segregationists to do so. He said his rationale for this was a desire for his children not to grow up in a “racial jungle.”

Further demonstrating his support for Biden, Berman discussed ex-Republican Carly Fiorina endorsing him:

Carly Fiorina, who ran for the Republican nomination for president, okay, she wanted to be the Republican nominee in 2016, she just came out, I don't know if we have the sound ready yet, because it just crossed. But she just came out and said that she is going to vote for Joe Biden. She says, I’ve been very clear that I can’t support Donald Trump. As citizens, our vote is more than a check on a box. You know, it’s a statement about where we want to go, and I think we need now actually -- what we need now is actually real leadership, she says, that can unify the country. I'm encouraged that Joe Biden is a person of humility and empathy and character. I think he's demonstrated that throughout his life. It really is such a long way from 2016, David.

Berman was attempting to make it appear that not even Republicans are supporting Trump, which is abjectly false, as Trump has enjoyed high approval ratings among Republicans throughout his time in office. Still, the host wanted to make it seem like forces were gathering to back Biden.

Gregory added on to this by questioning Trump’s fitness for the job:

Such a long way. And, obviously, she tangled with Donald Trump. And, you know, he was personally insulting and, and she obviously questioned his fitness for the job then. And so it may not be a surprise to a lot of people, but here is a conservative, this is a business Republican, and this is another Republican saying, enough. I can't deal with Donald Trump anymore. I think Donald Trump is in a -- in a really bad political spot now. We've been seeing it for several weeks. The economy responds to the virus, questions about corruption, all of this, I think, are starting to hurt him. We're a long way away, so these battleground polls are early snapshots, but I think that the president's behavior shows he feels he's really under siege.

And Joe Biden is fit for the job? He has repeatedly shown signs of not being mentally capable of performing the duties of President, such as when he called for "economic intercourse.”

Romer also showed his preference for Biden by trying to pin the economy’s struggles and deaths from COVID-19 on Trump:

Well, what makes him look bad is that, that we've got two crises. It's not the numbers, it's the economic crises and people are dying. And there's a way to stop that. I can't understand why he doesn't see that it would be worth it to him to just stop it.

Trump was leading a strong economy before the lock down. The Democrats have tried to maintain the lock down, which Trump has fought. And pray tell what solutions Biden has offered for these issues? “Economic intercourse?”

CNN is obviously trying to manipulate its viewers into supporting Biden. However, Biden has failed to provide the cable channel with a strong track record to demonstrate his alleged “leadership.”

This unabashedly biased segment was sponsored by Amica Mutual Insurance and U-Haul.

JOHN BERMAN: Yeah, leaders need to lead. And we're starting to see the impact, David, I think, of voters not seeing the leadership that they want. There's this new round of polling out from The New York Times this morning looking at the key battleground states showing Joe Biden opening up to a very wide lead across the board against the president there. And one other thing I just want to get to because we just got this in, and I don't know if people have seen it.  Carly Fiorina, who ran for the Republican nomination for president, okay, she wanted to be the Republican nominee in 2016, she just came out, I don't know if we have the sound ready yet, because it just crossed. But she just came out and said that she is going to vote for Joe Biden. DAVID GREGORY (CNN POLITICAL ANALYST):  Such a long way. ALISYN CAMEROTA: Mr. Romer –

PAUL ROMER (NOBEL LAUREATE ECONOMIST): Could I say something here?

CAMEROTA: Yes, please.

ROMER:  I think it's very, it’s very puzzling that this president has been so opposed to testing because it isn't working in his interest. As we've pointed out in this, this article, if we rolled out a massive testing program, this, this pandemic could be over before the election. So there's a level of just incomprehension and, and self-destructiveness, which I think is really extraordinary.

CAMEROTA: He thinks it makes his numbers look bad. He thinks that the higher the number of positive tests, it makes him look bad. But, of course, there's that paradox with the more you test, the lower, theoretically, of a positive rate you would have.

ROMER: Well, what makes him look bad is that, that we've got two crises. It's not the numbers, it's the economic crises and people are dying. And there's a way to stop that. I can't understand why he doesn't see that it would be worth it to him to just stop it.
