Leavitt SLAMS Liberal Media’s Biden Coverup, Joins Tom Homan to Rail Against Illegals

Perhaps to mess with them after White House Correspondents Dinner (WHCD) weekend (aka the most self-righteous weekend of the year), White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and border czar Tom Homan dragged the press corps into the Brady Briefing Room Monday for an unusual morning press briefing emphasizing the administration’s rousing success of shutting down the border and deporting dangerous illegal immigrants.

But first and most notable here was Leavitt’s answer to a question from our friend and 2023 Media Research Center Bulldog Award winner, Mary Margaret Olohan from The Daily Wire. The question concerned Axios reporter Alex Thompson’s speech accepting an award at the WHCD touched on the legacy media’s (purposeful) failure to cover Joe Biden’s decline:

Leavitt hit the nail on the head about the liberal media’s role in the pants-on-fire “deepfake videos” narrative surrounding Biden and that kind of behavior “contribute[d] to the decline in the trust that Americans have for legacy media” and “why we’ve made many changes to this briefing room in this White House.”

Rewinding to the beginning and after a torrent of facts about the administration’s first 99 days of stemming the tide of illegal immigration, Leavitt brought in the man known online as DC Draino as the recipient of the “new media seat.” Draino asked about more dramatic steps to remove illegal immigrants in the wake of persistent judicial obstruction:

In contrast, the liberal media had other priorities. Speaking of the previous President, Biden regime apple polisher Mary Bruce of ABC lamented the plight of the liberal media’s candidate for Father of the Year, Kilmar Abrego Garcia (click “expand”):

BRUCE: A question on Abrego Garcia, if I can. The President recently said when it comes to facilitating his release, he’s leaving that up to his lawyers. So just to be clear, have there been any negotiations between the U.S. and El Salvador over his release or facilitating his release?

LEAVITT: Look, I will tell you what the president of El Salvador told all of you in the Oval Office. El Salvador does not intend to smuggle a designated foreign terrorist back into the United States. He is an El Salvadorian national. That is his home country. That is where he belongs, and the administration intends to comply with what President Bukele said — of El Salvador. He does not intend to send that individual back.

BRUCE: So that’s a no. There’s been no talks.

LEAVITT: What I have told you is that the president of El Salvador has made this quite clear.

CNN’s Priscilla Alvarez also invoked Abrego Garcia, plus last week’s deportations of illegal immigrants with their U.S. citizen babies:

Afer a reporter in the NPR seat complained about the prospect of illegal immigrant farm workers being deported, the Daily Caller’s Reagan Reese asked about an incredible update in the case of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem having her purse snatched:

Olohan came next and, prior to her Thompson question, she wanted Homan to elaborate on why there have been “so many crimes against children committed by illegals”:

And, once again, Fox’s Peter Doocy showed the change in administrations wouldn’t change the fierceness of his questions:

He also asked about “what is the holdup with” reaching trade deals and then President Trump’s Truth Social post about Shadeur Sanders (click “expand”):

DOOCY: You guys have at least 18 written trade proposals. We still don’t know who they are from or what they contain. What is the holdup with that?

LEAVITT: There is no holdup. We’re working around the clock. The trade team is working all day. I was on the phone late last night with Secretary Lutnick. I was on the phone this week as well with Secretary Bessent. I mean, the entire team is working 24/7 to get these trade deals done and I think you’ll be hearing more about them this week. I don’t want to get ahead of the trade team or the President in announcing potential deals, but certainly I can assure the American public that this administration is full speed ahead in — in cutting good and fair trade deals on behalf of the American worker.

DOOCY: And one more. After the President’s Truth Social post, the Browns finally took Shedeur Sanders. Does the President think he deserves credit for Sanders getting picked? And does he think going to the Browns is better than being undrafted?

LEAVITT: Hey, I’ve got — all — all I will say is the president put out a statement and a few rounds later he was drafted. So I think the facts speak for themselves on that one, Peter.
