Wednesday night on his eponymous Fox News Channel show, host Tucker Carlson and former Congressman Sean Duffy (R-WI) lambasted the liberal media and their allies in elected office for having moved on from the deadly November 15 attack on the Waukesha, Wisconsin Christmas parade as the facts of the case run conflict with the left’s narratives about America.
Put simply, as both acknowledged (and as our Bill D’Agostino did last month), it largely comes down to a few factors, most notably race and religion.
“[A]ll of a sudden, you’re not hearing anything about the mass murder in Waukesha — Waukesha, Wisconsin, just, like, the other day. So, why aren't you hearing about that? It seems like kind of a big story. The media don’t want to talk about it,” said Carlson in a tease.
Carlson began the segment by highlighting the fact that, “two weeks after the murders,” the White House decided it cared enough to send people there in the form of First Lady Jill Biden and Second Gentlemen Doug Emhoff.
The FNC host broke it down in simple terms, asking Duffy “why [has] this” attack “[been] ignored” seeing as how “inherently, mass murder is always big deal.”
Before explicitly stating why, Duffy set the table by describing Waukesha as “a great community” where “you want to raise your family” with “great schools” and people who “go to church on Sunday” and “love the Packers.”
Keeping that in mind, Duffy added “[i]t’s mostly White, mostly Christian, Republican-leaning county, so they’re the wrong race, wrong religion, wrong politics” whereas suspect Darrell Brooks Jr. “is Black,” “anti-White, anti-Jew,” and “anti-Trump” who allegedly decided to drive his SUV into a parade and murder “dancing grannies and an eight-year-old boy” and “injur[ing] 60 people.”
Citing Brooks’s lengthy rap sheet and fact that he was “out on $1,000 bail,” Duffy said the media recognized where they stand on issues of criminal justice and a hatred of “Kyle Rittenhouse, Trump supporters,” and “all the white people,” so Brooks committing mass murder ran against their preferred narratives about humanity.
In turn, he explained, the liberal media “totally ice[d] it out...because they don’t want to be confronted with these facts of good people being mowed down by a really bad man and, frankly, a guy who should have been locked up[.]”
Carlson replied by citing the fact that “ the media have no credibility at all” and especially when one considers “the disparity between the way this was covered and the Kyle Rittenhouse trial is covered,” which led Duffy to cite other topics the media have either harped on or ignored (click “expand”):
DUFFY: Well, no — to put it quickly, I mean, if you look at it: how did they cover the — the Russian collusion hoax and BLM —
CARLSON: Right. That’s right.
DUFFY: — and the — the — the January 6 insurrection. But they don't cover the Hunter Biden laptop story and they don’t cover this story, right? So, they’re just hacks and you wonder why their ratings are so low or why people don't trust the media? It's because, I mean, and you’ve mentioned this, it’s an outlet for the Democrat Party, the — the radical wing of the liberals that they support and that’s the stories they tell, but you know what? I think people want to know this story. And, frankly, we should know the story to decide do we really want bail reform?
CARLSON: Right. Right. No, it’s just —
DUFFY: Do we really want criminal justice reform?
CARLSON: — exactly right.
DUFFY: Is this a good thing for America? What are the consequences of these policies on the American people? We should know that. But they won't share it so we don't know. We’re still in the dark.
And for anyone dismissing what Carlson and Duffy said as purely partisan, the facts back them up.
As our Scott Whitlock wrote on Monday, the major broadcast network morning and evening newscasts have completely ignored Brooks’s hateful views and ceased mentioning him all together by November 24. Fast-forward a few weeks and, by December 7, ABC, CBS, and NBC had axed even granular mentions of Waukesha.

CARLSON: Well, it seems like the world has forgotten about the mass murder that just took place in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The Biden administration finally decided to pretend to notice. They sent the First Lady and Second Gentleman down to pay their respects two weeks after the murders. So, why have our leaders and our media been ignoring what happened in Waukesha right after the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict? Sean Duffy is a former congressman from the State of Wisconsin. He joins us tonight. Sean, thanks so much for coming on. So, this just — inherently, mass murder is always a big deal. Why is this one being ignored?
SEAN DUFFY: Well, first, let me just say I appreciate you covering this story, Tucker, for Wisconsin and, also, Waukesha is a great community. They have great schools.
CARLSON: Yep.
DUFFY: They go to church on Sunday. They love the Packers. It’s a place you want to raise your family, right?
CARLSON: Ahh.
DUFFY: But I think you have to look at the facts of the case, right? So, you have Waukesha. It’s mostly White, mostly Christian, Republican-leaning county, so they’re the wrong race, wrong religion, wrong politics, number one.

DUFFY: But number two, Darrell Brooks Jr., the defendant, he is Black. He is anti-White, anti-Jew, anti-Trump. But he gets in his SUV and drives it down a Christmas parade route, Tucker, and kills dancing grannies and an eight-year-old boy, injures 60 people.
CARLSON: Exactly.
DUFFY: And here’s the problem with the story — is that he has a rap sheet 50 pages long and he’s out on $1,000 bail, so the media looks at that and says, well, listen. We’re supporting criminal justice reform and bail reform and we’ve also said that all the white people — I’m sorry — all the racists are like Kyle Rittenhouse, Trump supporters. Those are the racists. It can't be Darrell Brooks Jr. who’s a Black man who hates white people, so we can’t cover the story. They totally ice it out and it’s because they don’t want to be confronted with these facts of good people being mowed down by a really bad man and, frankly, a guy who should have been locked up in jail and not released on bail.
CARLSON: You know, I just can't think of a more precise or accurate to describe it. I don’t think you’re reading it off a screen.
DUFFY: No.
