Over the course of the past week, broadcast and cable news outlets have publicized their plans for the virtual Democratic and Republican National Conventions and, as part of the announcement for MSNBC, they revealed the hateful, vile ReidOut host Joy Reid will join Rachel Maddow and TDS sufferer Nicolle Wallace as lead co-hosts.
In correspondence with Reid’s elevation, Lyin’ Brian Williams was demoted as a co-host for the evening with Last Word host Lawrence O’Donnell left off the list to ostensibly continue his diminished role on major campaign and election nights as an occasional panelist.
Here’s how TV Newser’s A.J. Katz summed up MSNBC’s schedule:
The network will deliver live, special coverage from 7 p.m.-2 a.m. ET each night of the conventions. starting with The ReidOut at 7 p.m. ET and All In With Chris Hayes at 8 p.m. ET both weeks.
At 9 p.m., MSNBC will move to its main prime-time coverage, co-hosted by Rachel Maddow with Joy Reid and Nicolle Wallace. The trio will be joined by Brian Williams who continues coverage at 11 p.m. ET, followed by Ari Melber at 1 a.m. ET.
(....)
NBC News and MSNBC correspondents and political reporters will join the coverage from various locations with analysis and interviews with voters and campaigns including Hallie Jackson, Peter Alexander, Kristen Welker, Mike Memoli, Ali Vitali, Shaquille Brewster, Geoff Bennett, Vaughn Hillyard and Monica Alba.
Oof. So every evening host will keep their time slot except O’Donnell. Someone tell MSNBC to stop the hammering and give the socialist some love (or at least spread it around since that’s what socialism is all about doing to our money).
Between this, spouting off conspiracy theories, and having a staffer quit with a scathing letter ripping the 24/7, fear-mongering news media, it hasn’t been a banner summer for Larry.
For the 2016 campaign, the 2018 midterms, and events in this 2020 cycle, MSNBC’s special coverage reliably consisted of Maddow, Williams, and then Chris Matthews or Wallace as a de facto third co-host.
Panelists therefore consisted of personalities such as (but not limited to) Hayes, Karine Jean-Pierre, Steve Kornacki, Claire McCaskill, O’Donnell, Reid, Eugene Robinson, Steve Schmidt, and Michael Steele.
So for the 2020 conventions, MSNBC has decided to double down on lunacy instead of sobriety with the factually-challenged and scandal-ridden Reid who, as NewsBusters documented, began to hemorrhage viewers by the end of The ReidOut’s first week (and, despite what MSNBC has claimed, doesn’t air in primetime).
Put simply, MSNBC decided to replace one serial liar as a convention co-host with a serial liar who also happens to be a far-left hack.
