A day after a trollish tweet for the ages that united people across the right side of the aisle against the media for a day-long dunk squad session, President Trump responded to a question Friday afternoon from CNN chief White House correspondent/carnival barker Jim Acosta by telling him “good job” on his Twitter videos on Thursday in McAllen, Texas that inadvertently made the case for a border wall.
Acosta could be heard on the video screeching to the President about whether he had “anything to say about these accusations that you’re over-hyping the problem at the border.”
Trump spotted him and replied with a smirk: “Good job yesterday. I appreciate your sales pitch. I appreciate your sales pitch yesterday.”
Either not acknowledging or not realizing that Trump was trolling him, Acosta shot back that he “didn’t see an invasion on the border.” This led the commander-in-chief to employ some sarcasam: “You didn’t? I know. That’s cause we have a wall.”
As White House staff (including Sarah Huckabee Sanders) tried to move Acosta and his colleagues out of the room where the President was having an immigration roundtable, Acosta shouted to Trump that “there were portions that didn’t have a wall.”
Having had enough of his nonsense, Trump could be heard appearing to utter this conclusion (before the pool video from C-SPAN ended): “Some people are dumb. A lot of people are dumb. Good promotion for us. It was a great promotion.”
