Sentinel Newspapers (Montgomery County, MD) and Playboy correspondent Brian Karem announced on Thursday night that he was hired as a CNN contributor, marking the culmination of Karem’s rise to fame thanks to throwing a hissy fit during a White House press briefing.
Heres a tweet from Karem announcing his hiring:
Happy to announce that in addition to covering the WH for Playboy and the Sentinel newspapers - I will now be an on-air contributor for CNN

Karem lived in relative obscurity with his two jobs at Playboy and the D.C. suburbs papers until he melted down in the middle of June 27's White House press briefing.
He lashed out at then-Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders simply because she called out the media’s rampant liberal bias and so-called fact-checking chicanery:
Come on! You're inflaming everybody right here, right now with those words! This administration has done that as well. Why in the name of heavens — any one of us, right, are replaceable — and any one of us, if we don't get it right, the audience has the opportunity to turn the channel or not read us. You have been elected to serve for four years at least. There's no option other than that. We're here to ask you questions. You're here to provide the answers and what you just did is inflammatory to people all over the country who look at it and say, ‘See, once again, the President's right and everybody else out here is fake media.’ And everybody in this room is only trying to do their job.
This outburst gave way to voluminous amounts of praise, which included CNN’s Jim Acosta and Dylan Byers. Karem took a triumphant media tour on MSNBC’s Hardball and The 11th Hour that night. During the former show, he complained that he’s “tired of being paddled” by the Trump administration and warned about the White House was putting war zone reporters in danger. Yeesh.
That’s just a sampling of Karem’s TV appearances since he became a star. If that’s what we’ll see going forward, it’s safe to say he’ll be making numerous NewsBusters appearances.
