Comedians speak truth to power.
They challenge the government, defend the weak and stick up for the little guy one barb at a time. Oh, and in between, they make us laugh.
In reality, most comedians follow Leftist groupthink, avoid certain topics like kale and kiss up to those in power when it suits them. Remember the years 2008- 2016, when President Barack Obama lived in the White House? Comedians either ignored or defended him.
More recently, Saturday Night Live approached socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with all the fury of a declawed cat on its death bed.
Comics also rise up to defend their peers when attacked.
When far-left stand-up Michelle Wolf, star of the quickly canceled Netflix talker The Break with Michelle Wolf, bombed at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner comics rushed to her side.
The Late Night team did as well.
Did it matter that her routine proved so unappealing the dinner event ditched having a comedian as host for 2019? Apparently not.
Former Daily Show host Jon Stewart rallied behind Samantha Bee after she insulted the First Daughter in a way that would have ended her career had the name been “Malia,” not “Ivanka.” Kathy Griffin also rode to Bee’s defense.
Will the same happen to Louis C.K.? The disgraced comic has slowly returned to the stand-up stage. A recent routine found him mocking the anti-gun Parkland High School students.
“They testify in front of Congress, these kids? What are they doing? You’re young! You should be crazy! You should be unhinged! Not in a suit… You’re not interesting. Because you went to a high school where kids got shot? Why does that mean I have to listen to you? Why does that make you interesting? You didn’t got shot. You pushed some fat kid in the way, and now I’ve got to listen to you talking?”
The comic also slammed snowflakes who demand we stop using certain words while employing others … or else.
“They’re like royalty. They tell you what to call them. ‘You should address me as they/them. Because I identity as gender neutral.’ OK. You should address me as ‘there,’ because I identity as a location.”
We’ve already seen one direct response to C.K.’s act. Andy Richter of Conan fame indirectly attacked C.K. with this tweet.
Far-left comic Sarah Silverman publicly defended C.K. as recently as October, despite his history of sexually creepy behavior. Will she do so again? To say it now would be brave and bold, no doubt.
We’ll wait and see.
