MRC Free Speech America researchers examined the top 20 stories promoted by Google News using the MRC Digital News Tracker during the month of June.
The data study tracked 17 stories tied directly to Freedom 250 celebrations including Rededicate 250 and The Great American State Fair.
Researchers found that 100 percent of the tracked Freedom 250 anniversary stories promoted by the platform were framed negatively.
The data also highlighted 12 separate stories amplified by Google News that hyper-focused on the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool renovations to create political drama.
