On Thursday's At This Hour with Berman and Bolduan, CNN host John Berman asked a provocative question about GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump's mental processes that you would never hear a CNN anchor raise about Hillary Clinton despite her perpetual difficulty with using acceptable judgment or ethics in office.
As South Carolina Republican Senator and Trump critic Lindsey Graham appeared as a guest, Berman alluded to a remark by Libertarian vice presidential nominee Bill Weld and actually asked the GOP Senator if Trump "has a screw loose."
At 11:24 a.m. ET, the CNN host posed: "Senator, William Weld, former Republican governor of Massachusetts, last night he was part of a town hall here on CNN. He said he thinks Donald Trump has a screw loose. Do you think Donald Trump has a screw loose?"
After Senator Graham responded that he does not think the GOP nominee is "crazy," and went on to complain about him lacking "discipline," and being "thin-skinned," co-host Kate Bolduan wondered if Trump could be trusted with the nuclear codes as she followed up: "You mentioned trust -- and this has come up this week -- do you trust Donald Trump with the nuclear codes?"
Not satisfied with the South Carolina Republican's response, Berman pressed: "You've served with Senator Clinton and you've worked in foreign policy issues with her. Who do you trust more with the nuclear codes -- Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton?"
Before charging that the GOP nominee is as unqualified as President Barack Obama to handle foreign policy, Senator Graham poured cold water on the idea that Trump might use nuclear weapons: "I don't want either one of tjem to be commander -- who do I -- do I think Mr. Trump is going to start a nuclear war? No."
